Lokbatan is a settlement and municipality in Baku, Azerbaijan. It has a population of 41.365 The municipality consists of the settlements of Lokbatan, Shubany, and Heybat. [2] It is the location of a large mud volcano, and a historic oilfield. One of the first moving pictures filmed in Azerbaijan was of an oil well blowout in the 1930s. The mud volcano produced spectacular flames of natural gas in October 2001. [3]

Azerbaijan has the most mud volcanoes of any country, spread broadly across the country. 350 of the 700 volcanoes of the world are in the Azerbaijani Republic. Local people call them “yanardagh”, “pilpila” (terrace), “gaynacha” and “bozdag”.

Lökbatan Mud Volcano, also known as Lok-Batan Mud Cone, is a mud volcano located in Absheron Peninsula near the settlement of Lökbatan in Qaradağ raion of Baku, Azerbaijan. The mud volcano erupted in 1977 and again on October 10, 2001, when it produced large flames many tens of meters high. Since 1998. the area has been submitted to UNESCO's World Heritage Site tentative list.

The 2021–22 Azerbaijan Cup was the 30th season of the annual cup competition in Azerbaijan, with Premier League side Keşla being the defending champions from the 2020–21.
