Lachesilla rossica is a rare psocopteran species described from southern Russia. [1] The species can be found in Ukraine as well. [2] It was discovered many years later in the valley of the Allondon river, near Geneva, Switzerland. [3] In the latter habitat, it occurs together with Lachesilla bernardi , a congeneric species that is visually very similar to it: the examination of genitalia with a microscope is the only way to differentiate the two species. It was reported recently from Albania too. [4]
Charles Oberthür was a French amateur entomologist specializing in lepidoptera.
The Royal Belgian Entomological Society is a learned society based in Brussels. It is devoted to entomology, the study of insects. It was founded on 9 April 1855 with Edmond de Sélys Longchamps as its first president.
Troctomorpha is one of the three major suborders of Psocodea (barklice, booklice, and parasitic lice), alongside Psocomorpha and Trogiomorpha. There are more than 30 families and 5,800 described species in Troctomorpha. The order includes parasitic lice, which are most closely related to the booklice family Liposcelididae.

Martial Jean Maurice Noualhier was a French entomologist who specialised in Hemiptera.
Siphona is a genus of flies in the family Tachinidae.
Sumpigaster is a genus of flies in the family Tachinidae.
Chrysotimus is a genus of longlegged flies in the family Dolichopodidae. It is cosmopolitan in distribution, but it is probably paraphyletic with respect to several genera of limited distribution.
Achille Marie Jacques Raffray was a French diplomat, traveller, zoologist and entomologist.
In the 10th edition of Systema Naturae, Carl Linnaeus classified the arthropods, including insects, arachnids and crustaceans, among his class "Insecta". Insects with net-veined wings were brought together under the name Neuroptera.
Closterotomus trivialis is a species of plant bugs belonging to the family Miridae, subfamily Mirinae.
Lachesilla is the main genus in the psocopteran family Lachesillidae. There are at least 310 described species in Lachesilla. Frequent species in the Northern hemisphere include Lachesilla quercus and Lachesilla pedicularia. Some species are localized: Lachesilla merzi has been collected only once in Spain and Lachesilla rossica, apart from the original specimens that were found in southern Russia, is only known from the Valley of the Allondon river, near Geneva, Switzerland.
Suphisellus is a genus of beetles in the family Noteridae, containing the following species:
Lachesilla sauteri is a species of Psocoptera from the Lachesillidae family that is endemic to Switzerland.
Lachesilla dimorpha is a species of Psocoptera from the Lachesillidae family that can be found in Cyprus, Greece, Italy, and Spain. It can also be found in Near East and North Africa.
Lachesilla meinanderi is a species of Psocoptera from the Lachesillidae family that is endemic to the Canary Islands. The habitat of Lachesilla meinanderi is terrestrial.

Philippe Cuénoud is a Swiss entomologist and botanist living in Onex, who worked on the Psocoptera of Switzerland and Papua New Guinea, as well as on plant phylogeny. He found the only recently known population of Lachesilla rossica near Geneva and contributed further to the knowledge of the flora and fauna of the canton of Geneva with the first mention of a slender-billed gull and with the discovery of the first reported population of small-leaved helleborines. He also participated in a multidisciplinary study of the free-living fauna and flora of Basel's Zoo. In a 1999 trip to Brasil with Alain Chautems, he was among the first few people to see the newly rediscovered flower Sinningia araneosa, that had gone missing for more than a century.
Adolphe Hercule de Graslin was a French entomologist.
