Ladd, Missouri

Ladd is an unincorporated community in northwestern Texas County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. [1]

The community was located in Long Hollow, approximately 1.25 miles south of the Texas-Pulaski county line and about 1.75 miles northeast of Evening Shade. The Long Hollow church and cemetery are located about one-half mile south in Long Hollow and the historic Long Hollow school was located near the community site. [2] [3]

History

A post office called Ladd was established in 1892, and remained in operation until 1922. [4] The community has the name of Ladd Davis, the son of an early settler. [5]

The community was located on Missouri Route 137 and Missouri Route V, approximately one mile south of Oscar and four miles north of Raymondville. It is at an elevation of 1,309 ft (399 m). The Mahan Cemetery lies about one mile east on Route V.

Pleasant Ridge is an unincorporated community in Texas County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. The community is located on Pleasant Ridge Road, approximately three-quarters of a mile southwest of Upton and about ten miles west of Houston.

Sargent is an unincorporated community in southern Texas County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. The community is adjacent to the Burlington Northern Railroad, approximately four miles southeast of Cabool. The Texas County-Howell county line is about two miles south of the location. Potter Creek flows past the east side of the community.
