Latri Kunda (spelling variation: Latrikunda, name variant: Latri Kunda Yiringan Ya or Latrikunda Yiri Nganya) is part of the Kanifing District, and a suburb of Sere Kunda (or Serekunda) in The Gambia.
The district is located in the center of Serekunda. In the 1993 census, Latri Kunda was listed as a separate town with 22,902 inhabitants. [1]
Latri Kunda takes its name from Lat Kumba Lô (full name: Latir Kumba Lô) — a Serer noble and friend of one of Sayerr Jobe's sons (founder of Sere Kunda) who was persuaded to move to the Gambia from Senegal in return for a piece of land. After moving to the Gambia, he was given Latri Kunda by the noble Jobe family. Thus, Lat Kumba became lamane of Latri Kunda.
The Kanifing District is adjacent to the northeast. The border is defined by the Kairaba Avenue which runs from northwest to southeast. In the south, Latri Kunda is limited by Sayerr Jobe Avenue, south is Serekunda District. Dippa Kunda is located southwest, the border is defined by several side roads. To the west lies Manjai Kunda, where Kotu forms the border. In the northwest Latri Kunda reaches up to the Bertil Harding Highway and borders on Bakau New Town (or Fajara). In part, an area south of the Bertil Harding Highway is still counted as part of Fajara. [2]
Latri Kunda is a cosmopolitan area with loads of restaurants, shops and bars. Kairaba Avenue which runs within the vicinity of this suburb is a well known road in the country. It is where almost all of the Gambia's telecommunication towers such as Africell, QCell, Comium, and several other banks are headquartered, including the American Embassy. Gamtel, the nation's telecommunication company also has an office on Kairaba Avenue - near Westfield.
The "Big Tree" (Goye bu maak), a massive silk cotton tree on the west of Mosque Road is also located in Latri Kunda, next to Latri Kunda Market. It is a meeting point. [3]
The Gambia, officially the Republic of the Gambia, is a country in West Africa. Geographically, The Gambia is the smallest country in continental Africa; it is surrounded by Senegal, except for its western coast on the Atlantic Ocean. It is situated on both sides of the lower reaches of the Gambia River, which flows through the centre of the country and empties into the Atlantic Ocean. U.S. Route 5 (US 5) is a north–south United States Numbered Highway running through the New England states of Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont. Significant cities along the route include New Haven, Connecticut; Hartford, Connecticut; and Springfield, Massachusetts. From Hartford northward to St. Johnsbury, Vermont, the road closely follows the route of the Connecticut River.
U.S. Route 40 or U.S. Highway 40 (US 40), also known as the Main Street of America, is a major east–west United States Highway traveling across the United States from the Mountain States to the Mid-Atlantic States. As with most routes whose numbers end in a zero, US 40 once traversed the entire United States. It is one of the first U.S. Highways created in 1926 and its original termini were in San Francisco, California, and Atlantic City, New Jersey. US 40 currently ends at a junction with I-80 in Silver Summit, Utah, just outside Salt Lake City. West of this point US 40 was functionally replaced with I-80, and as these segments of I-80 were constructed the western portion of US 40 was truncated several times.
U.S. Route 290 is an east–west U.S. Highway located entirely within the state of Texas. Its western terminus is at Interstate 10 southeast of Segovia, and its eastern terminus is at Interstate 610 in northwest Houston. It is the main highway between Houston and Austin and is a cutoff for travelers wanting to bypass San Antonio on Interstate 10. Throughout its length west of Austin, US 290 cuts across mountainous hills comprising the Texas Hill Country and the Edwards Plateau; between Austin and Houston, the highway then travels through gradually hilly grasslands and pine forests comprising the Gulf Coastal Plains.
Serekunda is the largest urban centre in The Gambia. It is situated close to the Atlantic coast, 13 km (8 mi) south-west of the capital, Banjul, and is formed of nine villages which have grown together into a larger urban area.
Bakau is a town on the Atlantic coast of Gambia, west of Gambia's capital city of Banjul. It is known for its botanical gardens, its crocodile pool Bakau Kachikally and for the beaches at Cape Point. Bakau is the first major suburb outside Banjul and the most developed town in the Gambia. Close to Bakau and Banjul is Gambia's largest city, Serekunda.
New Lambton is a suburb of Newcastle, in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia. It is located about 6 km (4 mi) west of the Newcastle central business district. It includes two shopping districts, schools and other general facilities. At the 2016 Australian census it had a population of approximately 10,000.
Maryland Route 193 is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. Known for most of its length as University Boulevard and Greenbelt Road, the state highway runs 26.07 mi (41.96 km) from MD 185 in Kensington east to MD 202 north of Upper Marlboro. MD 193 serves as a major east-west commuter route in eastern Montgomery County and northern Prince George's County, connecting Wheaton, Silver Spring, Langley Park, College Park, and Greenbelt. The state highway also provides the primary access to the University of Maryland and Goddard Space Flight Center. In central Prince George's County, MD 193 is the main north–south highway connecting Glenn Dale and Greater Upper Marlboro with the affluent suburbs of Woodmore and Kettering.
Trunk 2 is part of the Canadian province of Nova Scotia's system of Trunk Highways. The route runs from Halifax to Fort Lawrence on the New Brunswick border. Until the 1960s, Trunk 2 was the Halifax area's most important highway link to other provinces, and was part of a longer Interprovincial Highway 2 which ended in Windsor, Ontario. The controlled access Highway 102 and Highway 104 now carry most arterial traffic in the area, while Trunk 2 serves regional and local traffic.

Delaware Route 52 (DE 52) is a state highway in New Castle County, Delaware. The route runs from U.S. Route 13 Business in downtown Wilmington north to Pennsylvania Route 52 (PA 52) at the Pennsylvania border near Centerville. DE 52 runs through the city of Wilmington and passes through areas of the Brandywine Valley north of Wilmington. DE 52 intersects Interstate 95 (I-95)/US 202 and DE 2 in Wilmington and DE 100/DE 141 and DE 82 in Greenville. The entire route is designated as part of the Brandywine Valley National Scenic Byway, a National Scenic Byway and Delaware Byway, while most of the route is also designated as part of the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Byway of the Delaware Byways system. The road was built as the Kennett Pike, a turnpike, between 1811 and 1813. The Kennett Pike was bought by Pierre S. du Pont in 1919 and was widened and paved before being sold to the State of Delaware for $1. The road received the DE 52 designation by 1936.

American International University West Africa established The Gambia campus in January 2011 in Serekunda. The University offers medical program leading to Doctor of Medicine (MD) Degree. The curriculum is based on American Medical Schools systems. The University is open to students from Africa. AIU Health Science Center consists of 5 colleges: College of Medicine, College of Dentistry, College of Pharmacy, College of Nursing, College of Health Professionals: MLT. AIUWA admit students three times a year. The first campus is located at 89 Kairaba Avenue, KSMD, Fajara, The Gambia. 201 students from 14 countries enrolled in 2013. A new campus has been constructed at Kanifing Institutional Area. 120,000 square foot campus houses State of Art classrooms, Laboratories, Library, Conference rooms and other Students facilities. Construction of the new campus started in April 2013 and was completed by end of 2016. It has since graduated a high numbers of Nurses who are helping the Health sector of the county in various parts and most of the graduates are out of the country for further educations(such as Masters) or working with International Organizations such as WHO, UN MRC. although a large number of the students in the school, popularly known as AIUWA are international students, most have them are doing well in their countries. The school is accredited by National Accreditation and Quality Assurance Agency (NAQAA) which was established in 2015. AIUWA is a great place to be and most of the Lecturers in the school are Professors, PhDs and Masters holders.
