Laura Slimani (born 23 August 1989) is a French politician of The Ecologists. Since 2020,she has served as a deputy mayor of Rouen. [1] From 2013 to 2015,she was the leader of the Young Socialist Movement. [2] From 2015 to 2017,she served as president of Young European Socialists. [3] In the 2019 European Parliament election,she was a candidate for member of the European Parliament. [3]
Slimani joined the Socialist Party in 2010. [4] During the 2017 Socialist Party presidential primary,she served as spokesperson for Benoît Hamon. [5] In September 2017,she left the Socialist Party and joined Hamon's newly founded Génération.s. [6] In the 2020 municipal elections,she ran alongside The Ecologists. [7] During the 2021 Green Party presidential primary,she supported Éric Piolle. [8]

Presidential elections were held in France on 23 April and 7 May 2017. As no candidate won a majority in the first round,a runoff was held between the top two candidates,Emmanuel Macron of En Marche! Génération·s sometimes rendered Génération-s or Génération·s,is a French political party created on 1 July 2017 by Benoît Hamon who,according to its founder,aims to "refound and gather the left" in France. Its foundation followed the sharp decline of the Socialist Party in the 2017 presidential election,in which Hamon was the Socialist nominee,and the legislative elections,in which he lost his seat as deputy. European Parliament elections were held in France on 26 May 2019,electing members of the 9th French delegation to the European Parliament as part of the elections held across the European Union. The election featured two major changes since the 2014 election:the return to a single national constituency and the increase in the number of French seats from 74 to 79 upon the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union.
