Layton Greene (born December 4, 1998) is an American singer from East St. Louis, Illinois. [2] She is best known for her 2019 single "Leave Em Alone" (with Lil Baby featuring PnB Rock and City Girls), which peaked at number 60 on the Billboard Hot 100 and received platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Previously in January of that year, she signed with Georgia-based record label Quality Control Music as its first female R&B artist. [3] Her debut extended play (EP), Tell Ya Story, was released on September 9, 2019. [4]

Personal life

Greene was born in East St.Louis, Illinois. [5] She was raised by her mother and her step father, who eventually separated when she was 14. Greene began singing at seven years old, reciting Keyshia Cole's "Love" to her mother. [6]

Greene is in a relationship with music producer GStylesOnTheTrack, who worked with her on 2019 single "Open Wounds." [7]

Greene names Keyshia Cole, Aaliyah, and Chris Brown as her musical influences. [8]

The Way It Is is the debut studio album by American singer Keyshia Cole, released on June 21, 2005, through A&M Records and Interscope Records. The album features guest appearances from Jadakiss, Juelz Santana, Metro City and Eve. Cole co-wrote every song on the album, and also worked with a number of producers and writers, including Ron Fair, Sean Garrett, Kerry "Krucial" Brothers, Polow da Don, John Legend, Alicia Keys and Kanye West. The Way It Is is an R&B album, with some tracks having hip hop and hip hop soul sensibilities. Lyrically, the album speaks of romantic relationships.

It was written by Cole, Jack Knight, Cainon Lamb, Lil' Kim, and Missy Elliott for her second album Just Like You (2007) and samples "Juicy Fruit" by Mtume, and "Don't Stop the Music" by Yarbrough and Peoples, while also interpolating "Juicy" by The Notorious B.I.G., who also sampled "Juicy Fruit." It was written by Cole and Brian Bates, with production being handled by the former alongside Anthony Bell, Greg Edwards, and Ron Fair. The song was released on February 5, 2021, through Hearts and Stars and BMG, following its preview during her and Ashanti's joint appearance on the Verzuz webcast battle series in January 2021.
