The Lebanese Republic and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan have close, warm relations. [1] Pakistan has an embassy in Beirut. Lebanon has an embassy in Islamabad. Both countries are members of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.
According to former Pakistani Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani, Lebanon and Pakistan's close relations are "based on shared views on peace and stability in the Middle East as well as aspirations for the future." [1]

This treaty came out of the Taif Agreement, which stipulated that "Lebanon is linked to Syria by distinctive ties deriving strength from kinship, history, and common interests." The Lebanese-Syria treaty calls for "coordination and cooperation between the two countries" that would serve the "interests of the two countries within the framework of sovereignty and independence of each." Numerous agreements on political, economic, security, and judicial affairs have followed over the years.
Three Iranian diplomats as well as a reporter for Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) were abducted in Lebanon on 4 July 1982. None of them have been seen since. The missing individuals are Ahmad Motevaselian, military attaché for Iran's embassy in Beirut; Seyed Mohsen Mousavi, chargé d'affaires at the embassy; Taghi Rastegar Moghadam, an embassy employee; and Kazem Akhavan, IRNA photojournalist. Motevaselian was also an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) member in command of an Iranian expeditionary force in Lebanon.
