Lebogang James Motlhaping (born 23 November 1971) is a South African politician from the Northern Cape. He was the Member of the Executive Council for Transport,Safety and Liaison from 2018 to 2019,the MEC for Health from 2016 to 2018,and the MEC for Sports,Arts and Culture from 2014 to 2016. He was a Member of the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature from 2014 to 2019. Motlhaping is a member of the African National Congress.
Lebogang James Motlhaping was born on 23 November 1971 in Kuruman in the previous Cape Province. [1] He attended high school in Loopeng in the Bophuthatswana bantustan. He then studied at the North-West University,where he obtained a community development certificate. He received a leadership certificate at the African Political Parties School. [1] In 1996,he achieved a certificate in ethics management from PALAMA. Motlhaping is currently studying towards a degree in public administration from MANCOSA. [1]
While teaching at Bosheng Middle School,he organised for the Congress of South African Students from 1990 to 1996. He served as a member of the Black Rock Development Forum between 1995 and 1999. At the same time,he served as a district coordinator for the Mmabatho Adult Literacy and Education Trust. From 1998 to 2001,he worked as a provincial coordinator at ABET. [1]
Motlhaping worked for Statistics South Africa between 2001 and 2002. From 2002 to 2005,he served as the regional secretary for the Kgalagadi Youth Council. He was a manager of the Kgalagadi Human Resource Development Foundation between 2004 and 2008. In 2008,he became a Mayoral Committee Member of the John Taolo Gaetsewe District Municipality. He held the post until 2010. Motlhaping was the district chairperson of the Home Affairs Forum between 2009 and 2012. [1]
Motlhaping was sworn in as a Member of the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature following the May 2014 provincial election. [2] On 30 May,premier Sylvia Lucas appointed him Member of the Executive Council for Sports,Arts and Culture,succeeding Pauline Williams. [3] [4] Motlhaping served in the post until 2 March 2016,when Lucas moved him to the Health portfolio of the Executive Council. He succeeded Mac Jack,while Bongiwe Mbinqo-Gigaba succeeded him. [5] On 15 February 2018,Motlhaping became the MEC for Transport,Safety and Liaison. [6] [7] He held this post until the 2019 general election,when he left the provincial legislature. Newly elected premier Zamani Saul appointed him the chief of staff in his office in December 2019. [8]
Sylvia Nomandla Bloem is a South African politician who is the current Northern Cape MEC for Transport and Safety Liaison. She was appointed to the post in June 2020. She has been a member of the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature since May 2019. From May 2019 to June 2020,she served as the Northern Cape MEC for Land Reform,Agriculture and Nature Conservation and Environmental Affairs. Bloem is a member of the African National Congress.
Bentley Gavin Vass is a South African politician who has been the Northern Cape MEC for Co-operative Governance,Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs since February 2018. He was sworn in as a Member of the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature in October 2017. Vass is a member of the African National Congress and the party's deputy provincial chairperson.

McCollen Ntsikelelo Jack,known as Mac Jack,was a South African educator and politician. A member of the African National Congress,Jack was appointed to the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature in June 2013. He served as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Transport,Safety and Liaison from June 2013 until May 2014,when he was appointed the MEC for Health. Following a cabinet reshuffle in March 2016,he was appointed the MEC for Finance,Economic Development and Tourism. Jack held the position until his appointment as MEC for Education in May 2019,despite him briefly being demoted from the Executive Council in May 2017.
Solomon Patrick Mabilo is a South African politician from the Northern Cape who served as the Executive Mayor of the Sol Plaatje Local Municipality from 2018 to 2021. A member of the African National Congress (ANC),he served as a Member of the National Assembly from 2014 to 2017. He was a Member of Northern Cape Provincial Legislature from 2009 to 2014 and again in 2018. Within the Northern Cape provincial government,he served as the MEC for Transport,Safety and Liaison from 2009 to 2013,and was the MEC for Environment and Nature Conservation between 2013 and 2014.

Chotelo was demoted from the Executive Council in 2018 and left the legislature in 2019.

Pauline Jeanette Williams is a retired South African politician. A member of the African National Congress,she was elected to the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature in 2004. In 2009,she was appointed as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Sport,Arts and Culture. She left the legislature in 2014,only for her to return in 2015. She was then made MEC for Transport,Liaison and Safety in 2016. Williams was briefly out of the post in May 2017. In February 2018,she was made the MEC for Environmental Affairs. Williams left the legislature again in 2019.
