Pauline Jeanette Williams is a retired South African politician. A member of the African National Congress,she was elected to the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature in 2004. In 2009,she was appointed as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Sport,Arts and Culture. She left the legislature in 2014,only for her to return in 2015. She was then made MEC for Transport,Liaison and Safety in 2016. Williams was briefly out of the post in May 2017. In February 2018,she was made the MEC for Environmental Affairs. Williams left the legislature again in 2019.
Williams was born in Springbok in South Africa's former Cape Province. [1] In 1978,she earned a senior certificate from Northern Paarl High School. [1] Williams studied for a BA degree at the University of the Western Cape between 1979 and 1981. [1] In 1982,she earned a diploma in higher education at the University of South Africa. [1] She obtained a B.Ed Degree at UNISA in 1991. Williams did a Diploma in Financial Management at APAC in 2000. [1]
From 1983 to 1996,Williams was an educator at Van Wyk Senior Secondary School in her home town. [1] In 1996,she became the Namaqua regional coordinator of adult basic education and training. [1] She held this position until 2000,when she was appointed as regional director of education. She served in this post until 2004. [1] In this position,Williams was also a member of the Management Team at the Northern Cape Department of Education. [1]
Between 1995 and 1997,she was a councillor of the Springbok Transitional Municipality and the Namaqua District Municipality. [1] Williams was elected to the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature in 2004 as a member of the African National Congress. [1] She served on various committees in the legislature. [1]
Williams is a senior member of the ANC. She was an additional member of the party's regional executive committee in Namaqualand during her time as secretary. She also served on the party's provincial executive committee as an ex officio member. [1] Williams also served as secretary of the ANC Women's League regional structure in Namaqua. She was an additional member and the deputy chairperson before she became the provincial chairperson of the women's league. [1] Williams had also served on the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the women's league. [1]
After the 2009 general election,she was appointed as Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Sport,Arts and Culture,replacing Archie Lucas. [2] [3] She was re-appointed to this role in 2013 by the newly elected premier,Sylvia Lucas. [4] For the 2014 general election,Williams was ranked 22nd on the ANC's list. [5] The ANC only won 20 seats,meaning that Williams had lost her seat. [6] Lebogang Motlhaping replaced her as MEC for Sport,Arts and Culture. [7] However,she returned to the provincial legislature on 27 October 2015. [8] In an executive council reshuffle in March 2016,she was appointed as the MEC for Transport,Liaison and Safety,succeeding Martha Bartlett. [9]
Ahead of the ANC's elective conference in May 2017,she emerged as a supporter of Zamani Saul's campaign for provincial chair. On the eve of the conference,Lucas (also a candidate for provincial chair) removed Williams from the executive. [10] The ANC condemned Lucas' decision. [11] On 1 June,Lucas rescinded her decision,returning Williams back to the executive council. [12] In February 2018,she was appointed MEC for Environmental Affairs. [13]
Williams retired from politics in 2019.
Tina Monica Joemat-Pettersson was a South African politician who served as the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Police from July 2019 until her death in June 2023. A member of the African National Congress,Joemat-Petterson had previously served as the Minister of Agriculture,Forestry and Fisheries from 2009 until 2014 and as the Minister of Energy from May 2014 until March 2017 under President Jacob Zuma.

Maruping Matthews Lekwene is a South African politician serving as the Northern Cape MEC for Health since June 2020. He has been a Member of the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature for the African National Congress (ANC) since June 2014. He was the Northern Cape MEC for Finance,Economic Development and Tourism from May 2019 until June 2020. Lekwene is also the provincial chairperson of the South African Communist Party (SACP) and the ANC's deputy provincial secretary.
Barbara Martha Bartlett is a South African politician. A member of the African National Congress,she has been serving as a permanent delegate to the National Council of Provinces since June 2020. From May 2014 to June 2020,Bartlett was a Member of the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature and a Member of the Executive Council in the provincial government.
McCollen Ntsikelelo Jack,known as Mac Jack,was a South African educator and politician. A member of the African National Congress,Jack was appointed to the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature in June 2013. He served as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Transport,Safety and Liaison from June 2013 until May 2014,when he was appointed the MEC for Health. Following a cabinet reshuffle in March 2016,he was appointed the MEC for Finance,Economic Development and Tourism. Jack held the position until his appointment as MEC for Education in May 2019,despite him briefly being demoted from the Executive Council in May 2017.
Gift van Staden is a South African politician who serves as a Member of the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature for the African National Congress (ANC). He was the provincial MEC for Social Development from 2016 to 2019. Prior to serving in the legislature,he was the Executive Mayor of both the ZF Mgcawu District Municipality and the Khara Hais Local Municipality. He is a former business associate of John Block.
Alvin Botes is a South African African National Congress (ANC) politician from the Northern Cape who has been serving as the Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation since May 2019. He became a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa in February 2018. He was the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Social Development from 2009 to 2013 and the MEC for Co-operative Governance,Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs from 2013 to 2018. Botes served as a Member of the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature from 2009 to 2018.
Mxolisa Simon Sokatsha was a South African accountant,educator and politician. A member of the African National Congress,he was a Member of the Executive Council in the Northern Cape from 2009 to 2019 and a Member of the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature from 2003 to 2019. In 2019 he was elected to the South African National Assembly.
Cukelwa Magdeline Chotelo,known as Tiny Chotelo,is a South African politician. A member of the African National Congress,she was elected to the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature in 2009. In 2013 she was appointed Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Social Development. She was appointed MEC for Nature Conservation and Environmental Affairs in 2014. Chotelo was demoted from the Executive Council in 2018 and left the legislature in 2019.
Lebogang James Motlhaping is a South African politician from the Northern Cape. He was the Member of the Executive Council for Transport,Safety and Liaison from 2018 to 2019,the MEC for Health from 2016 to 2018,and the MEC for Sports,Arts and Culture from 2014 to 2016. He was a Member of the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature from 2014 to 2019. Motlhaping is a member of the African National Congress.
Bongiwe Mbinqo-Gigaba is a South African politician. She is the current chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Basic Education in the National Assembly of South Africa and a Member of Parliament representing the African National Congress. Prior to serving in parliament,she was a Member of the Executive Council (MEC) in the Northern Cape provincial government.
Alexandra Jennifer Beukes is a South African politician who has been a Member of Parliament in the National Assembly since 12 June 2019. Prior to serving in the National Assembly,she was a Member of the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature and the mayor of the Khâi-Ma Local Municipality. Beukes is a member of the African National Congress.
Fufe Bohutsana Providence Makatong is a South African politician and the Northern Cape MEC for Roads and Public Works. She was appointed to the position on 26 June 2020. She has served as a member of the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature since 12 June 2020,and previously from 2014 to 2019. Between 2018 and 2019,she was the MEC for Health. Makatong is the treasurer of the provincial African National Congress structure.

Malambule Samuel Mashinini is a South African politician and trade union leader who has been a member of the Free State Provincial Legislature since 2014. A member of the African National Congress,he was elected to the Free State Provincial Legislature in May 2014. He was then appointed as Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure. A year later,he became the MEC for Economic and Small Business Development,Tourism and Environmental Affairs. Mashinini was appointed MEC for Police,Roads &Transport in October 2016. He was dismissed in October 2021.
Motlalepula Ziphora Rosho is a South African politician. A member of the African National Congress,she was elected deputy speaker of the North West Provincial Legislature in 2010. In 2012 she was appointed as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Economic Development,Environment,Conservation and Tourism in the North West Provincial Government. Rosho was discharged from the executive council in 2014 and then served in the provincial legislature as a committee chairperson until December 2018,when she returned to the executive as MEC for Local Government and Human Settlement. Rosho was appointed as MEC for Finance after the 2019 elections.
Violet Sizani Siwela was a South African politician from Mpumalanga. She was a Member of the National Assembly,where she chaired the Portfolio Committee on Small Business Development,and a member of the National Executive Committee of the African National Congress (ANC). She served in the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature until May 2019.

Gail Denise Parker is a South African politician and public servant who represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature from 2014 to 2019. During that time,she served briefly as the Northern Cape's Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Finance,Economic Development and Tourism from May to June 2017:she was appointed in a controversial cabinet reshuffle which the ANC later obliged Premier Sylvia Lucas to reverse. Parker trained as a teacher and entered politics through the South African Democratic Teachers Union.

A former mineworker,Rooi rose to political prominence through the National Union of Mineworkers.
