Morgan State University is a public historically black research university in Baltimore, Maryland. It is the largest of Maryland's historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). In 1890, the university, then known as the Centenary Biblical Institute, changed its name to Morgan College to honor Reverend Lyttleton Morgan, the first chairman of its board of trustees and a land donor to the college. It became a university in 1975.

The program is administered by the National Science Foundation (NSF) on behalf of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) to reward outstanding mentoring by individuals and organizations. PAESMEM is the highest national mentoring award bestowed by the White House.

Through her research in the areas of hyperspectral remote sensing, pattern recognition, automated target recognition, and precision agriculture, Bruce has served as major professor or graduate committee member for approximately 75 Masters and PhD students and has over 130 refereed publications.
Irma Becerra-Fernandez is an American electrical engineer and the seventh president of Marymount University. She has held this role since July 1, 2018. Prior to her current post, she was the provost and chief academic officer at St. Thomas University (Florida).
Rachel Toni Algaze Croson is an economist currently serving as Executive Vice President and Provost of the University of Minnesota, and McKnight Endowed Professor of Economics. Judy Jolley Mohraz is an American women's studies historian. She is a former president of Goucher College and the inaugural chief executive officer and president of the Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust. Mohraz is the second woman to serve as Goucher's president and the college's ninth president. Mohraz was appointed by President Bill Clinton to the United States Naval Academy Board of Visitors in 1996. She is a former long-time professor and associate provost of Southern Methodist University. Mohraz is the author of The Separate Problem, a collection of case studies of Black education in the Northern United States from 1900 to 1930.
Teresa Kaye Woodruff is an American medical researcher in human reproduction and oncology, with a focus on ovarian biology, endocrinology, and women's health. She joined Michigan State University as the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs in August 2020. Woodruff served as the interim President of Michigan State University from November 4, 2022 to March 4, 2024, following the resignation of Samuel L. Stanley. She was previously the Thomas J. Watkins Memorial Professor and Vice Chair for Research and Chief of the Division of Reproductive Science in Medicine in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois.
