Leul Gebresilase (born 20 September 1992) [1] is an Ethiopian long-distance runner. He won the silver medal at the 2022 London Marathon.

In 2015, Gebresilase earned silver in the 5000 metres at the African Games held in Brazzaville, Congo with a time of 13:22.13. [1]

Two year later, he came second at the Valencia Half Marathon. [1]

In 2018, he competed in the men's half marathon at the World Half Marathon Championships held in Valencia, Spain. He finished in 10th place. [2]

The following year, he finished in 8th place in the men's race at the 2019 London Marathon held in London, United Kingdom. Also in 2019 in December, Gebresilase won Valencia Marathon. [1]

He competed in the men's race at the 2020 World Athletics Half Marathon Championships held in Gdynia, Poland, finishing 10th. [3]

In 2021, Gebresilase placed third at the Amsterdam Marathon.

In April 2022, he finished second at the Rotterdam Marathon to repeat this achievement in October at the 2022 London Marathon, his first medal from a World Marathon Major. [1] [4]

She is a two-time world champion after winning the 5,000 m in 2017 and again in 2019, when she set a new championship record. She won the 3,000 metres race at the 2012 World Indoor Championships, claimed silver in 2014, and placed fourth in 2018. She is the 2019 World Cross Country champion. McColgan is a four-time European Championships medallist, winning silver medals for the 5000 m in 2018 and 10,000 m in 2022, bronze in the 5000 m in 2022, and a bronze for the indoor 3000 metres in 2017. She is the European record holder for the 10 km road race, and the British record holder for the 5000 m, 10,000 m, 5 km and half marathon. She also holds the European best in the 10 miles on the roads.

Bashir Abdi is a Belgian long-distance runner. He won bronze medals in the marathon at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and 2022 World Championships and silver at the 2024 Summer Olympics. In doing so, Abdi became both the first ever Belgian world championship medal winner at the marathon and the first Belgian male athlete to win an individual medal at both the Olympic Games and World Athletics Championships. He claimed silver in the 10,000 metres at the 2018 European Championships. He finished second and third at the 2020 Tokyo Marathon and 2022 London Marathon respectively. Jacob Kiplimo is a Ugandan long-distance runner who is the current world record holder in the half marathon. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and the 2022 World Athletics Championships, Kiplimo won a bronze medal in the 10,000 m events. Kiplimo won gold medals in the 5000 m and 10,000 m events at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, and he won a silver and gold medal at the 2019 and 2023 World Cross Country Championships, respectively. He was also the winner of the 2020 World Half Marathon.

Yemaneberhan "Yeman" Crippa is an Ethiopian-born Italian long-distance runner. Crippa claimed four medals in the age-group races at the European Cross Country Championships and a bronze in the senior race in 2019.

Her record of 29.01.03 is the second fastest time ever, just recently broken by Kenyan rival Beatrice Chebet. Letesenbet is the first athlete ever, male or female, to hold the 5000m, 10000m, and half marathon world records, simultaneously.

Girmaw Amare is an Olympic runner who competes in the 10,000 m, half marathon, marathon, and half marathon team event. Born in Ethiopia, he represented Israel at the 2020 Summer Olympics. In 2022, Amare won a team gold medal in the 2022 European Marathon Cup at the 2022 European Athletics Championships. In 2023 at the Valencia Marathon, Amare ran a personal best 2:05:52. Amare represented Israel at the 2024 Paris Olympics in the Men's marathon, and came in 44th.
