LIBERTY is Miliyah Kato's eighth studio album. It was released on March 2, 2016.
LIBERTY contains singles "Shounen Shoujo, "Piece of Cake", "Lipstick", and " FUTURE LOVER". It was released in two editions: a CD and a CD+DVD with the music videos of the singles,
The album opened at #4 on the weekly Oricon chart and continued to rank for a total of nine weeks. LIBERTY is Kato's first studio album to rank outside of the top three since 2008's TOKYO STAR, which reached #5 but had stronger first week sales. This is her lowest selling studio album.
Despite the poor physical sales the album still managed to reach #1 on iTunes [1]

Fans believe the album was influenced by Grimes's 2015 studio album "Art Angels". Stylistically this was abundant from Miliyah's visuals for the album being a pink cowboy hat which she wore to promote the album and angel wings., [3] which grimes fashioned for her music video "Flesh without Blood" shortly before the release of LIBERTY. [4] While Miliyah was promoting the album through an instagram video, she was playing the song "Kill V. Maim" from "Art Angels", which could be seen in the background. [5]
Miliyah promoted the album in various ways, through her jewellery line "MIRROR" she released 3 items in theme of LIBERTY a "MIRROR MEXICAN SKULL NECKLACE" [6] selling for ¥13,000 (around $119) the Necklace fit the theme of the "DRAMATIC LIBERTY" tour which featured influences from the Mexican day of the dead. [7] [8] She then had the "LIBERTY RING" [9] which sold for ¥28,000 (around $257) and featured wings which she wore on at the "DRAMATIC LIBERTY" tour and used for the limited edition Blu-Ray/DVD art for the tour. [10] Then finally the "ROSARIO NECKLACE" [11] which sold for ¥45,000 (around $413) which featured Miliyah's consistent use of crosses and the LIBERTY wings [12] all items were made from genuine silver, and had limited qualities and were obtained through a lottery and through the DRAMATIC LIBERTY tour. During the LIBERTY era Miliyah began some heavy promotion with the fitness clothing brand Under Armour. [14] featuring in various appearances throughout the year, even releasing her own clothing under the brand [15] Later in the campaign she had her signature pink hair and would have promotion photos of LIBERTY during her appearances. [16] [17] Even wearing clothing featuring the LIBERTY wings with the Under Armour clothing during a promotional photo shoot for FRaU magazine. [18]
Miliyah was featured in various magazines during the LIBERTY era, multiple using her promotional shots used in the LIBERTY album booklet. Then also looks in theme with the LIBERTY cowboy style. [19] [20]
There was an advertisement truck featuring the promotional shots for "FUTURE LOVER" driving around Tokyo [21] The album was advertised in various other ways such as, billboards [22] [23] throughout Japan using the promotional shots from the album' art photo shoot.

Miho Katō, better known by her stage name of Miliyah Kato is a Japanese pop and urban singer, songwriter, fashion designer, and author. In 2003, Kato started her career as a singer when she provided vocal to Reggae Disco Rockers' song "Cherry Oh! Baby". Her hip-hop-influenced debut album, Rose (2005) was certified platinum in Japan. She gained further recognition when she was featured in M-Flo's track "One Day" (2005). Kato's second studio album Diamond Princess achieved minor commercial success, certified gold by the RIAJ and peaking at number five in Japan. Her third studio album, Tokyo Star (2008) yielded her first top-ten single, "La La La", which was later certified double-platinum for its ringtone sales. Kato's first compilation album Best Destiny (2008) became her first number-one album, certified platinum in Japan. Her fourth studio album Ring became her best-selling album, and yielded three top-ten singles: "Sayonara Baby", "20 -Cry-", and "Love Forever", which was certified million in Japan. The song from the album, "Aitai" were certified triple-platinum despite being not released as a single. Her fifth studio album Heaven (2010) debuted atop on the Oricon chart and has yielded two platinum singles, "Why" and "Last Love".
Emiri Katō is a Japanese voice actress and singer. At the 2nd Seiyu Awards, she won Best New Actress with her roles in Powerpuff Girls Z as Momoko Akatsutsumi/Hyper Blossom and Lucky Star as Kagami Hiiragi. She also shared a Best Singing Award with the rest of the Lucky Star girls for the theme song "Motteke! Sailor Fuku". At the 6th Seiyu Awards, she won Best Supporting Actress with roles such as Kyubey in Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Kenta Yumiya from Beyblade: Metal Fusion, Kiko Kayanuma in Darker than Black, and Mey-Rin in Black Butler. She and fellow voice actress Kaori Fukuhara were in a duo music group called Kato*Fuku, which sang theme songs for When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace and Battle Spirits Saikyo Ginga Ultimate Zero. Kato*Fuku released three albums from 2012 to 2015, and disbanded in 2016. She left 81 Produce in February 2022.
Shota Shimizu is a Japanese singer-songwriter and musician from Yao, Osaka, Japan, who debuted in 2008. On June 1, 2008, Shimizu performed at Central Park in New York City, USA, during the annual Japan Day Festival. Shota Shimizu went to a local Christian school in Osaka where he learned how to sing gospel music. He became captivated with soul music, which is how his music career started. He was inspired by Donny Hathaway, Marvin Gaye, and Ray Charles.

Best Destiny is pop singer Miliyah Kato's fourth album, and first greatest hits collection. She described Best Destiny as the "Sampling Best [of·Miliyah Kato as a R&B musician]".
