Linda Christelle Angounou Ngouayaka (born 23 September 1992) is a Cameroonian hurdler. She is the national record holder over 400 metres hurdles. [1]
In 2022, Angounou finished fourth in the 400 metres hurdles final at the 2022 African Championships in Mauritius. [2] [3] She competed at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. [4]
She won the bronze medal 400 metres hurdles at the 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games in August 2022, in Konya, Turkey. [5] [6]
In July 2023, she set a personal best and national record over the 400m hurdles in Troyes, running 55.94 seconds. [7] [8]
She won silver in the 400m hurdles at the Francophone Games in Kinshasa in August 2023. At the same games, she won gold with the Cameroon women's 4x100m relay team, and silver with the women's 4x400m relay team. [9] [10] [11]
She won bronze at the delayed 2023 African Games in Accra in the 400m hurdles in March 2024, running 56.41 seconds. [12] [13] She competed in the 400 metres hurdles at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris in August 2024. [14]
The 400 metres, or 400-meter dash, is a sprint event in track and field competitions. It has been featured in the athletics programme at the Summer Olympics since 1896 for men and since 1964 for women. On a standard outdoor running track, it is one lap around the track. Runners start in staggered positions and race in separate lanes for the entire course. In many countries, athletes previously competed in the 440-yard dash (402.336 m)—which is a quarter of a mile and was referred to as the "quarter-mile"—instead of the 400 m (437.445 yards), though this distance is now obsolete.
