Linda Zhang is an automotive engineer. She is currently the chief engineer for the Ford F-150 Lightning all-electric pickup truck. [1]
Zhang's family immigrated to the United States when she was eight years old. She cites her father's work as a researcher for Ford as inspiration for her later career. [2]
Zhang majored in electrical engineering at the University of Michigan, graduating in 1996. In 1998 she earned an MBA from the University of Michigan, followed by a master's degree in 2011 in computer engineering also from the University of Michigan. [3]
Zhang began her career at Ford in 1996 at the age of 19. [4] As an electrical engineer, Zhang worked on the Ford Explorer and the Ford Escape, as well as powertrains for multiple Ford models. Zhang was part of Ford's research and strategy into an all-electric vehicle. [5] In September of 2018, she became the chief engineer for Ford's all-electric pickup truck, the F-150 Lightning. [6] Zhang focused on both the engineering challenges and the strategic challenges in building an electric truck that can compete with a gasoline powered engine, saying: "There was a lot of skepticism around whether EV trucks can really be tough." President Biden took a test drive of the Lightning in May 2021, stating that he was impressed with the truck and Zhang's work. [7] The truck was launched in May of 2021.

However, on 19 March 2016, Pakistan passed a second "Auto Policy 2016-21", which offers tax incentives to new automakers to establish manufacturing plants in the country. In response, Renault, Nissan, Proton Holdings, Kia, SsangYong, Volkswagen, FAW and Hyundai have expressed interest in entering the Pakistani market. MG JW Automobile Pakistan has signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Morris Garages (MG) Motor UK Limited, owned by SAIC Motor to bring electric vehicles in Pakistan. NLC signed an agreement with Mercedes Benz for the manufacturing of Mercedes Actros trucks in Pakistan. Pakistan has not enforced any automotive safety standards or model upgrade policies. A few old models of vehicles including the Bolan and Ravi continue to be sold by Suzuki. On 8 July 2021, Jolta Electric launched production of electric motorcycles.

Rivian Automotive, Inc. is an American electric vehicle automaker and automotive technology company founded in 2009. Rivian is building an electric sport utility vehicle (SUV) and pickup truck on a "skateboard" platform that can support future vehicles or be adopted by other companies. An electric delivery van is also being built as part of a partnership with Amazon. Rivian started deliveries of its R1T pickup truck in late 2021. The Ford F-150 Lightning is a battery electric full-size light duty truck unveiled by Ford in May 2021 as part of the fourteenth generation Ford F-Series. Four models have been announced, and all models initially will be dual-motor, four-wheel-drive, with EPA range estimates of 230–300 mi (370–480 km). The base price of the commercial-grade version all-wheel drive (AWD) truck in the United States was announced to be US$39,974, with higher-power/trim/range models priced all the way up to US$90,000. The F-150 Lightning began production on 26 April 2022.
Blue Oval City is a planned automotive assembly complex near Stanton, Tennessee that will be operated by Ford Motor Company and SK Innovation, and is expected to be operational in 2025. The facility takes its name from Ford's logo, and will primarily consist of an automotive assembly plant that will produce electric Ford F-150 Lightning pickup trucks and a plant that will manufacture electric vehicle batteries, as well as a battery recycling facility, suppliers, and a training center. The project is expected to cost $5.6 billion, making it the most expensive single investment in Tennessee history, and employ approximately 5,800 when complete.
