Linden Hall (born 20 June 1991) is an Australian track and field middle-distance runner.
Hall started running while in primary school in Victoria. While still in Grade 6, she came 11th in her first national championships in cross country. She also played netball and was a strong swimmer. However, she gave these away when she joined Essendon Athletics club and commenced regular athletics training with a coach.
After high school, from 2011 to 2015, Hall went to the US where she studied Dietetics at Florida State University. During her college athletics career, she ran in three National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) 1500m finals and won bronze in 2014. [5]
In 2016, Hall set a new PB of 4:04.47 in Palo Alto qualifying her for the Olympics. She was selected for the team and represented Australia in the 1500 metres. [1] She came 4th in her heat to qualify for the semifinal. In the semifinal she finished in 8th and did not advance to the final. [6]
Hall competed at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in the 1500 Metres, finishing in fourth and narrowly missing out on a medal. [7]
She also competed at the 2019 World Championships, she made it to the semi-finals where she finished 10th and did not advance to the final. [8]
In 2021, Hall ran under the 4-minute barrier for the first time clocking a time of 3:59.67, becoming the first Australian woman to achieve this. [9] She competed at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Hall came third in both her heat and semi-final of the Women's 1500m, each time improving her time. She thus made the final of the 1500m, where she finished in 6th position, with a personal best time of 3:59.01. [10]
Hall is a two time Australian national champion in the 1500m: in 2018 and 2021. She has set new Oceanian records for 1500m at least twice, the last occasion on 16 September 2023 at the Prefontaine Classic Diamond League meet with 3.56.92 (beating her previous record of 3:57.27 set 2 months previously) [11] She won a Diamond League 1500m race on 30 June 2022 at the Bauhaus-Galan in Stockholm.

Shannon Solares-Rowbury is an American middle-distance runner from San Francisco, California. After competing collegiately for Duke University, she turned professional in 2007. Rowbury has represented the United States at the 2008, 2012, and 2016 Summer Olympics. She also represented the United States at the World Championships in 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017, winning the bronze medal in the 1500 meters in 2009. In 2015, Rowbury helped set the world record with the U.S. team for the distance medley relay event, and set a then-American record for 1500 meters on July 17, 2015, breaking Mary Slaney's 32 year-old mark with a time of 3:56.29.
Jennifer Simpson is an American middle- and long-distance runner, formerly a steeplechaser. She won the gold medal in the 1500 meters at the 2011 World Championships, silvers at the 2013 and 2017 World Championships, and a bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympics, becoming the first American woman to win an Olympic medal in the event.
Ryan Gregory Gregson is an Australian middle-distance runner. He formerly held the Australian record for the men's 1500 metres now held by Stewart McSweyn.

Zoe Buckman is an Australian runner who has competed nationally and internationally in the 400 metre, 800 metre, 1,500 metre and 5,000 metre events. She ran for the University of Oregon. She has also competed at the Junior World Championships, the Australian National Championships, the 2012 Summer Olympics, and the 2013 IAAF World Athletics Championships where she was a finalist in the Women's 1500 metres, the 2016 Olympics, the 2017 World Championships and 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Kaila McKnight is an Australian athletics competitor. She represented Australia at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the 1500 metres event.
Laura Weightman is a former British middle-distance runner. She reached the 1500 metres final at the 2012 London Olympics and the 2016 Rio Olympics. She won a silver medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and bronze medals at the 2014 and 2018 European Championships. She also won a bronze medal in the 5000 metres at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Eunice Jepkoech Sum is a Kenyan middle-distance runner who specializes in the 800 metres. She was the 2013 World champion and won the bronze medal in 2015. Sum took a silver and a gold at the 2012 and 2014 African Championships in Athletics respectively. She was also 2014 Commonwealth Games gold medallist and a three-time successive Diamond League winner in 2013–15.
Faith Chepngetich Kipyegon is a Kenyan middle- and long-distance runner. Kipyegon is the current world record holder for the 1,500 metres and mile, set in 2024 and 2023 respectively, and the former world record holder for the 5,000 metres. Kipyegon won a gold medal each at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the 1,500 m. She also won a gold medal in the 1,500 m at the 2017, 2022 and 2023 World Athletics Championships and in the 5,000 m at the 2023 World Athletics Championships. She is nicknamed the "smiling destroyer".
Laura Muir is a Scottish middle- and long-distance runner. She is the 2020 Tokyo Olympic silver medallist in the 1500 metres, having previously finished seventh in the event at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Muir won the bronze medal at the 2022 World Championships, and has three other top five placings in 1500 m finals at the World Athletics Championships, finishing fifth in 2015, fourth in 2017 and fifth in 2019. She is a two-time European 1500 m champion from 2018 and 2022 as well as the 2022 Commonwealth Games 1500 m champion and 800 metres bronze medallist.
Chris O'Hare is a Scottish middle-distance runner who competes in the 1500 metres. He has represented Scotland at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and Great Britain at the 2016 Olympic Games.
Timothy Cheruiyot is a Kenyan middle-distance runner specialising in the 1500 metres. He is the 2020 Tokyo Olympic silver medallist in the event and the 8th fastest athlete all time over the distance. At the World Athletics Championships, Cheruiyot won the silver medal in 2017 in London, and a gold in 2019 in Doha.

Luke Mathews is an Australian middle-distance runner who competes in the 800 metres and 1500 metres. He represented his country in both events at the 2016 Summer Olympics. As well as in the 4 × 800 m at the 2017 IAAF World Relays, the 1500m at the 2017 IAAF World Championships and in both events at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. He also competed for Australia at 2019 World Athletics Championships in the 800 m.
Halimah Nakaayi is a Ugandan middle-distance runner who specialises in the 800 metres. She is the 2019 World Champion at the event and won the bronze medal at the 2022 World Indoor Championships. Nakaayi is the current Ugandan record holder for the 800 m both outdoors and indoors, and also for the 1000 metres.
The women's 1500 metres event at the 2020 Summer Olympics took place from 2 to 6 August 2021 at the Japan National Stadium. 45 athletes from 25 nations competed. Kenya's Faith Kipyegon successfully defended her Olympic title, to become one of only two women, along with Tatyana Kazankina, to win two Olympic 1500 metres titles. Her winning time of 3:53.11, broke Paula Ivan's 33-year-old Olympic record. The silver medal went to Great Britain's Laura Muir and the bronze went to Sifan Hassan of the Netherlands.
Jessica Jolliffe is an Australian middle and long distance runner who is the current world record holder in the 2000 metres, set on 12 July 2024 with a time of 5:19.70. She is also the Oceanian record holder for the indoor and outdoor 1500 metres, indoor and outdoor mile, and outdoor 3000 metres. Hull also holds the Australian record in the 5000 metres and indoor 3000 m. In 2024, her Oceania record of 3:50.83 in the 1500 metres was also the 5th-fastest all-time performance in the event.
Freweyni Hailu is an Ethiopian middle-distance runner. She won the gold medal at the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships over 1500 metres.
