Fernando José de França Dias Van-Dúnem was an Angolan politician who was the First Vice-President of the African Union's Pan-African Parliament. He was a member of the ruling Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) and served as Prime Minister of Angola twice during the 1990s.
The American Canoe Association (ACA) is the oldest and largest paddle sports organization in the United States, promoting canoeing, kayaking, and rafting. Maria de Lourdes Pereira dos Santos Van-Dúnem was an Angolan singer. Usually called Lourdes Van-Dúnem, she was born in Luanda, and rose to stardom in the 1960s with the group Ngola Ritmos. She recorded her first album, Monami, with this group. She toured several times in Portugal, Algeria, and Brazil, in addition to performances in Angola. After her first album, most of her career was spent with the group Jovens do Prenda.
Pedro de Castro van Dúnem, also known as Comandante Loy, was an Angolan politician. He served in various leading functions within the MPLA during the Angolan liberation struggle against Portuguese colonial rule and within the country's government after achieving independence.
Afonso Van-Dúnem aka M'Binda was an Angolan politician. Van-Dúnem worked as the MPLA-Workers' Party representative in Zambia and Tanzania from 1970 to 1972, as well as being elected to the Central Committee of the MPLA from 1976 onwards. He was also Minister of External Relations from 1985 to 1989 and Permanent Representative to the United Nations from 1991 to 2000.

The People's Republic of Angola was the self-declared socialist state which governed Angola from its independence in 1975 until 25 August 1992, during the Angolan Civil War. It was led by the People's Movement for the Liberation of Angola, which won the civil war and has since governed the country as a social democratic republic.

Her singing career officially began in 2007 with the release of the hit single "Olá Baby" in the compilation album Eu e Elas , a song for which the video reached the number two spot on the MTV Africa Video Chart.
Francisca Eugénia da Silva Dias Van Dunem is an Angolan-born Portuguese lawyer and politician who served as the Portuguese Minister of Justice from 26 November 2015 to 30 March 2022, in António Costa's XXI and XXII Constitutional Governments, and Minister of Internal Administration from 4 December 2021 to 30 March 2022. Van Dunem was Portugal's first black government minister in history.
