Season 5's release and production was subject to two large hiatuses. Due to the production of the movie, season 5's production was put on hold until after the movie was done so there was a one-year gap between the end of season 4 and the beginning of season 5. A hiatus also occurred between episodes 3 and 4 due to both the weekly release of the movie starting on September 17, 2013, and the crew taking a break from the year-long production of the movie. Regular release of the season resumed in April 2014.
As well as being released on YouTube for free viewing, the season was also available to buy in advance to the YouTube release.

EP Daily is a daily news television show that covers video games, movies, TV shows, comic books, collectibles and gadgets. Created and executive produced by host Victor Lucas, and his Vancouver, British Columbia production company EP Media Ltd, EP Daily was a staple on airwaves since its debut in September 1997. The show continues to produce and publish content on the Electric Playground Network's YouTube channel.

Epic Rap Battles of History (ERB) is a YouTube web series and music project created by Jewish American Peter "Nice Peter" Shukoff and Lloyd "EpicLLOYD" Ahlquist. The series pits historical and pop culture figures against one another in a rap battle format. The characters portrayed are often determined by suggestions from viewers in the comments sections of the channel's videos. Shukoff and Ahlquist write each song themselves, researching the subject in order to find obscure details to use as references in the lyrics, although guest stars featured in the battles as well as certain Patreon subscribers have also contributed to the writing process. Following an extended hiatus, the channel returned with a bonus battle in December 2018, and the sixth season debuted on April 20, 2019. As of February 23, 2023, the channel has 14.9 million subscribers and approximately 4 billion total video views.

It develops and produces animated television programming, feature films, commercial, music videos and web-based content. Founded by Brendan Burch in 2003, some of the studio's most notable productions include Tom Hanks' Electric City, Fox's Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey, MTV's Good Vibes, Nick Jr.'s Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!, Nickelodeon's El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera, Adult Swim's Apollo Gauntlet and Lazor Wulf, the animated feature The Drawn Together Movie: The Movie!, and the web series Dick Figures for the YouTube channel Mondo Media. 6PH also released Dick Figures: The Movie, an in-house production developed from the company's web series.

Dick Figures: The Movie is a 2013 independent American adult animated fantasy action-adventure comedy film produced by Remochoso and Six Point Harness and distributed by Mondo Media. It is based on the animated web series Dick Figures. The film was written and directed by Ed Skudder and Zack Keller and produced by Nick Butera and Andy Fiedler. Skudder and Keller star as Red and Blue, two best friends and polar opposites who set out on a journey to find the Great Sword of Destiny for the Raccoon in order to save their friendship, Pink's birthday, and the world from Lord Takagami. It also features the voices of Eric Bauza, Ben Tuller, Shea Carter, Mike Nassar, Chad Quandt, and Lauren K. Sokolov.
"Messin' Around" is a song by American rapper and singer Pitbull, featuring vocals from Spanish singer Enrique Iglesias. It was released on April 8, 2016, as the lead single of Pitbull's tenth studio album, Climate Change. The song interpolates "Take It on the Run" by REO Speedwagon. It also recycles a verse by Pitbull from the song "Kiss from Those Lips" by Pitbull and Qwote.
Jump Around is the second extended play (EP) by British YouTuber and rapper KSI. It was released for digital download and streaming by Island Records and Universal Music Group on 28 October 2016. UNHhhh is an American comedy web series starring drag queens Trixie Mattel and Katya Zamolodchikova. In the series, Trixie and Katya discuss a topic humorously in front of a green screen. UNHhhh premiered on March 25, 2016, one year after Mattel and Zamolodchikova appeared in the seventh season of RuPaul's Drag Race. The show is aired through World Of Wonder's YouTube channel, as well as through its video-on-demand service WOW Presents Plus. UNHhhh has been nominated for ten Streamy Awards throughout its run, winning Unscripted Series at the 2020 ceremony, which the duo also hosted.
Edward Daniel Skudder is an American animator, storyboard artist, director, writer, producer, musician, and voice actor. He is known for being the showrunner and co-executive producer for the Cartoon Network animated series Unikitty!. He is also the creator of the animated web series Dick Figures and the co-director and co-writer of its Kickstarter-funded feature film Dick Figures: The Movie, done with his best friend and former business partner Zack Keller, both of them voicing main characters Red and Blue respectively.
"Jump Around" is a song by British YouTuber and rapper KSI from his second extended play (EP) of the same name. The song features a guest appearance from American rapper Waka Flocka Flame. It is a remake of "Jump Around" (1992) by House of Pain. The song was released for digital download and streaming by Island Records and Universal Music Group on 16 September 2016 as the third single from the EP.
