Egyptian athletes have won Track and Field medals in African, Pan Arab Games [1] and international athletic events. Most of the gold medals in African or international event were won in the throwing events.

In the 1970s and 1980s Nagui Asaad, Hassan Ahmed Hamad, Hisham Greiss, Mohamed Naguib Hamed, Ahmed Kamel Shata and Ahmed Mohamed Ashoush formed one of the strongest Egyptian teams in the throwing events.

Nagui Asaad (1971 Mediterranean Games shot put) and Abdel Herin (1955 Mediterranean Games marathon) are the only Egyptian athletes (Track and field) to win a gold medal in the Mediterranean Gamess.

In the 1990s Hanan Ahmed Khaled won many gold medals in discus throw and shot put.

More recently a new generation of Egyptian athletes supervised by Nagui Asaad like Yasser Ibrahim Farag and Omar Ahmed El Ghazaly won a lot of medals in throw events at the African competitions.

The 1999 Pan Arab Games were ninth edition of the multi-sport event between Arab countries and were held from August 15 to August 31. A total of around 4600 athletes from 21 countries participated in the 29 sports on offer. The opening ceremony that took place in Al Hussein Youth City Stadium was officially opened by King Abdullah II.

Omar Ahmed El Ghazaly is an Egyptian discus thrower.

Mohsen Mohamed Abdel-Mohsen Anani Yousef Mustafa is an Egyptian hammer thrower. He was born in Tunis, Tunisia. He transferred his eligibility to his native Tunisia in 2017.

Nagui Asaad Youssef ناجى أسعد,, is a retired Egyptian athlete who represented Egypt in international athletics events in the 1970s and early 1980s in shot put and discus throw.

Mohamed Naguib Hamed is an Egyptian athlete, one of only a few Egyptians to win gold medals in African athletic events. He competed in the men's discus throw at the 1984 Summer Olympics and the 1988 Summer Olympics.

Hisham Fouad Greiss is a retired male track and field athlete from Egypt who competed in the hammer throw. He is one of only a few Egyptian athletes to have won gold medals at the African athletic events. Along with his colleagues Nagui Asaad, Hassan Ahmed Hamad and Mohamed Naguib Hamed, Greiss formed one of the strongest Egyptian teams in throw events.

Hassan Ahmed Hamad is an Egyptian athlete who was a member of the Egyptian Athletics team between 1978 and 1992.

Ahmed Mohamed Ashoush is an Egyptian athlete. He competed in the men's shot put at the 1984 Summer Olympics and the 1988 Summer Olympics.

Ismaily Sporting Club is an Egyptian professional football club, established on 20 March 1921 as El Nahda Sporting Club, based in Ismaïlia, Egypt. The club is best known for its football team. Also it's considered as an Egyptian National Club, where they helped the famous local tour of duty to play for the benefit of the homeland against the occupying armies. The club's nickname The Brazilians, is a reference to their uniforms, which echo those of the Brazil national team, and similar style of play.

The Asian Cross Country Championships is a biennial regional cross country running competition for athletes from Asia. It is organised by the Asian Athletics Association and was first held in 1991 in Fukuoka, Japan. The competition has been held every two years since then, although the 2003 edition was postponed due to political conflicts within the region.

Egypt competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, from 27 July to 12 August 2012, sending one of its largest delegations ever. A total of 110 Egyptian athletes participated in 83 events across 20 sports, with more women taking part than ever before. The nation's flagbearer in the opening ceremonies was Hesham Mesbah, a judoka who was Egypt's only medalist at the 2008 Summer Olympics. Egypt won two medals during the course of the Games: Alaaeldin Abouelkassem earned silver in the men's foil, becoming the first competitor from an African nation to win a fencing medal, while Karam Gaber captured silver in the men's 84 kg Greco-Roman wrestling event. Two Egyptian weightlifters were awarded medals retroactively, after higher-ranked competitors were disqualified for doping: Abeer Abdelrahman took silver in the women's 75 kg event, while Tarek Yehia, received bronze in the men's 85 kg event. Among other achievements, Mostafa Mansour was the nation's first competitor in sprint canoeing while fencer Shaimaa El-Gammal became the first Egyptian female to appear in four editions of the Olympics.

The 2000 Arab Junior Athletics Championships was the ninth edition of the international athletics competition for under-20 athletes from Arab countries. It took place in Damascus, Syria – the second consecutive time the city hosted the tournament, and a sixth hosting for Syria. A total of 42 athletics events were contested, 22 for men and 20 for women. Neither Morocco, Algeria nor Qatar—all regional powers in the sport—sent a team to the meeting, which impacted the overall quality of performances.

The 2002 Arab Junior Athletics Championships was the tenth edition of the international athletics competition for under-20 athletes from Arab countries. It took place in Cairo, Egypt – the city hosted the tournament once before in 1986. A total of 43 athletics events were contested, 22 for men and 21 for women. After an absence in 2000, regional powers Morocco, Algeria and Qatar all returned to the tournament.

Sara Samir Elsayed Mohamed Ahmed is an Egyptian weightlifter who won a bronze medal in the women's 69 kg event at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She won the gold medal in the women's 76 kg event at the 2022 World Weightlifting Championships held in Bogotá, Colombia. Originally from the Ismailia Governorate, Ahmed was encouraged to take part in weightlifting by her family and was competing internationally by 2012. At the senior level, she has earned gold medals at the Mediterranean and African Games, as well as the Arab Championships. In Rio de Janeiro, she became the first Arab woman to receive an Olympic weightlifting medal and the first Egyptian woman to receive an Olympic medal on the podium in any discipline.
