The Uruguayan Air Force operated a total number of six Bandeirante aircraft. Five C-95s and one R-95. The C-95s were identified as FAU 580, FAU 581, FAU 582, FAU 583 and FAU 584. The R-95 received the registration FAU 585. The FAU 581, 583 and 584 were lost in accidents, and the R-95, the only Bandeirante that today remains in service with the Uruguayan Air Force, was one of the only two ever produced. [3] [4]

The Uruguayan Air Force is the air service branch of the Armed Forces of Uruguay. Originally created as part of the National Army of Uruguay, the Air Force was established as a separate branch on December 4, 1953. It is the youngest and also the smallest branch of the Armed Forces of Uruguay. In 1977 it was determined that the mission of the Air Force is to conduct strategic and tactical aerospace operations on behalf of the national defense, exercising the sovereignty of the Uruguayan airspace and defending the independence, integrity, constitution and laws of the country. In 1986 its name was changed to Brasil Central Linhas Aéreas and in 1990 to TAM – Transportes Aéreos Meridionais. In 2000 it was merged into TAM – Transportes Aéreos Regionais, creating TAM Linhas Aéreas.

On 28 June 1984 an Embraer EMB-110 Bandeirante operated by TAM – Transportes Aéreos Regionais crashed in Brazil with eighteen people on board. There were no survivors.
