Leinster Lightning was formed in 2013 and became a List A team in 2017. [1] They played their inaugural List A match in the 2017 Inter-Provincial Cup against North West Warriors. Leinster Lightning have won the Interprovincial Cup five times in a row, twice with List A status. In total, 26 players have appeared in List A cricket for Leinster Lightning, with three players having played in all 22 List A fixtures played by Leinster Lightning to date. [2]

George Dockrell is Leinster Lightning's leading run-scorer in List A cricket, aggregating 709 runs. Five batsmen have scored a century for Leinster Lightning in the format: Ed Joyce, Simi Singh, Andrew Balbirnie, Jack Tector and Dockrell. Balbirnie's score of 126 is the highest score by a Leinster Lightning batsman, while Dockrell has the teams best batting average: 101.28. Among the bowlers, Dockrell has taken more wickets than any other, claiming 35 – nine wickets more than that of the second most prolific bowler Singh. Barry McCarthy has the best bowling figures in an innings: he claimed six wickets, while conceding 39 runs. George Dockrell Irish cricketer

George Henry Dockrell is an Irish cricketer. Dockrell is right-handed batsman and slow left-arm orthodox bowler who plays international cricket for Ireland after learning his cricket at Leinster Cricket Club, Dublin. He was a member of the class of 2010 in Gonzaga College, Dublin. In December 2018, he was one of nineteen players to be awarded a central contract by Cricket Ireland for the 2019 season. In January 2020, he was one of nineteen players to be awarded a central contract from Cricket Ireland, the first year in which all contracts were awarded on a full-time basis.

Andrew Balbirnie is an Irish cricketer, the current captain of the Ireland cricket team in all formats. Balbirnie is a right-handed batsman and an occasional wicket-keeper. He was born in Dublin and was educated at St. Andrew's College. He was one of the 11 cricketers to play in Ireland's first ever Test match, against Pakistan, in May 2018. In December 2018, he was one of 19 players to be awarded a central contract by Cricket Ireland for the 2019 season.

Lorcan John Tucker is an Irish cricketer. He was part of Ireland's squad for the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He made his international debut for the Ireland cricket team in September 2016. In January 2020, he was one of nineteen players to be awarded a central contract from Cricket Ireland, the first year in which all contracts were awarded on a full-time basis.

It was the first edition of the competition to be played with first-class status, following the outcome of a meeting by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in October 2016. Leinster Lightning won the tournament, their fifth-consecutive, and completed a domestic clean-sweep in the process.

The 2017 Inter-Provincial Cup was the fifth edition of the Inter-Provincial Cup, a List A cricket competition played in Ireland. It was held from 1 May to 10 September 2017. It was the first edition of the competition to be played with List A status, following the outcome of a meeting by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in October 2016. Three teams competed; Leinster Lightning, North West Warriors and Northern Knights, with Leinster Lightning being the defending champions. Leinster Lightning retained their title, after North West Warriors won their match against Northern Knights on 6 August, giving Leinster Lightning an unassailable lead in the competition.

The 2017 Inter-Provincial Trophy was the fifth edition of the Inter-Provincial Trophy, a Twenty20 cricket competition played in Ireland. It was held from 26 May to 11 August 2017. It was the first edition of the competition to be played with full Twenty20 status, following the outcome of a meeting by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in October 2016. In April 2017, Cricket Ireland approved the participation of a fourth team, Munster Reds, for the tournament. Leinster Lightning won the tournament, after beating Munster Reds by five wickets in the final round of fixtures.

Simranjit "Simi" Singh is an Irish cricketer. In December 2018, he was one of nineteen players to be awarded a central contract by Cricket Ireland for the 2019 season. In January 2020, he was one of nineteen players to be awarded a central contract from Cricket Ireland, the first year in which all contracts were awarded on a full-time basis.

The 2018 Inter-Provincial Cup was the sixth edition of the Inter-Provincial Cup, a List A cricket competition played in Ireland. It was held from 28 May to 9 September 2018. It is the second edition of the competition to be played with List A status. Leinster Lightning were the defending champions.

The 2019 Inter-Provincial Cup was the seventh edition of the Inter-Provincial Cup, a List A cricket competition for teams from Ireland. It was the third edition of the competition to be played with List A status. Leinster Lightning were the defending champions.

The 2021 Inter-Provincial Cup was the ninth edition of the Inter-Provincial Cup, a List A cricket competition that took place in Ireland during 2021. It was the fifth edition of the competition to be played with List A status. The number of teams was increased from three to four, with Munster Reds playing in the tournament for the first time. On 25 March 2021, Cricket Ireland confirmed the fixtures for the tournament. On 9 April 2021, Cricket Ireland announced the revised fixtures for the tournament.

The Ireland cricket team toured the West Indies in January 2022 to play three One Day International (ODI) matches and a one-off Twenty20 International (T20I) match. The ODI series formed part of the inaugural 2020–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. On 6 December 2021, the full schedule for the tour was confirmed by both cricket boards. Ireland last toured the West Indies in January 2020. Prior to the series, the Irish team were scheduled to play five white ball matches against the United States in Florida. However, the ODI matches were cancelled due to COVID-19 cases within the squads.
