Some of the teams fielded by Manchester were styled Lancashire, and its players in those matches are included here. Manchester is classified as an important team by substantial sources from 1844 to 1864. [1] [2]

Notes

  1. These are the seasons in which the person was active as a Manchester player, including the club's matches as Lancashire.
  2. Inline citations reference the debut or earliest known mention of each player.
  3. Although match records since 1825 are fairly comprehensive, there remained for some years a tendency to omit certain details, mainly parts of bowling analysis, from scorecards. A few exceptions aside, that issue was essentially resolved before Manchester became an important team.
