Northern Knights was formed in 2013 and became a first-class team in 2017. [1] They played their inaugural first-class match in the 2017 Inter-Provincial Championship against North West Warriors. Northern Knights are yet to win the Interprovincial Championship, in either it time as a non first-class competition, or with first-class status. In total, 29 players have appeared in first-class cricket for Northern Knights, with James McCollum having played in all 11 first-class fixtures played by Northern Knights.

McCollum is Northern Knights leading run-scorer in first-class cricket, aggregating 750 runs. Three batsmen have scored a century for Northern Knights in the format: McCollum, James Shannon and Harry Tector. Tector's score of 146, is the highest score by a Northern Knights batsman, while Shannon has the teams best batting average: 61.33. Among the bowlers, South African-born James Cameron-Dow has taken more wickets than any other, claiming 15. McCollum has the best bowling figures in an innings: he claimed five wickets against North West Warriors in a 2018 match, while conceding 32 runs. [2]

George Henry Dockrell is an Irish cricketer, who plays international cricket for Ireland, having learned his cricket at Leinster Cricket Club, Dublin. Known as an all-rounder, Dockrell is a right-handed batsman and slow left-arm orthodox bowler. He was a member of the class of 2010 in Gonzaga College, Dublin. In December 2018, he was one of nineteen players to be awarded a central contract by Cricket Ireland for the 2019 season. Leinster Lightning won the tournament, their fifth-consecutive, and completed a domestic clean-sweep in the process.

The 2017 Inter-Provincial Cup was the fifth edition of the Inter-Provincial Cup, a List A cricket competition played in Ireland. It was held from 1 May to 10 September 2017. It was the first edition of the competition to be played with List A status, following the outcome of a meeting by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in October 2016. Three teams competed; Leinster Lightning, North West Warriors and Northern Knights, with Leinster Lightning being the defending champions. Leinster Lightning retained their title, after North West Warriors won their match against Northern Knights on 6 August, giving Leinster Lightning an unassailable lead in the competition.

The 2017 Inter-Provincial Trophy was the fifth edition of the Inter-Provincial Trophy, a Twenty20 cricket competition played in Ireland. It was held from 26 May to 11 August 2017. It was the first edition of the competition to be played with full Twenty20 status, following the outcome of a meeting by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in October 2016. In April 2017, Cricket Ireland approved the participation of a fourth team, Munster Reds, for the tournament. Leinster Lightning won the tournament, after beating Munster Reds by five wickets in the final round of fixtures.

Harry Tom Tector is an Irish professional cricketer. He was part of Ireland's squad for the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He made his full international debut for the Ireland cricket team in September 2019. In January 2020, he was one of nineteen players to be awarded a central contract from Cricket Ireland, the first year in which all contracts were awarded on a full-time basis.

The 2018 Inter-Provincial Championship was the sixth edition of the Inter-Provincial Championship, a first-class cricket competition played in Ireland. It was held from 1 May to 6 September 2018. It was the second edition of the competition to be played with first-class status. Leinster Lightning were the defending champions. The venue for the opening fixture, originally scheduled to take place at Oak Hill Cricket Club Ground, was moved to Pembroke Cricket Club, due to poor weather.

The 2018 Inter-Provincial Cup was the sixth edition of the Inter-Provincial Cup, a List A cricket competition played in Ireland. It was held from 28 May to 9 September 2018. It is the second edition of the competition to be played with List A status. Leinster Lightning were the defending champions.

The Ireland Wolves cricket team toured Bangladesh in February and March 2021 to play an unofficial Test match, five unofficial One Day International matches and one unofficial Twenty20 International match against a Bangladesh Emerging team. The tour was confirmed a day after Ireland's tour of Zimbabwe was cancelled. The original tour schedule included two Twenty20 matches, but one was dropped from the itinerary on 13 March 2021.

The Ireland men's cricket toured England in June 2023 to play one four-day Test match and toured again in September 2023 for three One Day International (ODI) matches.
