Skid Row is an American heavy metal band from Toms River, New Jersey. Formed in 1986, the group originally included guitarist Dave "The Snake" Sabo, lead vocalist Matt Fallon, drummer John Ratkowski Jr., bassist Rachel Bolan and guitarist Steve Brotherton (soon replaced by Kurtis Jackson, in turn replaced by Jim Yuhas).
By March 1987, the lineup had changed to feature Scotti Hill in place of Yuhas and Rob Affuso in place of Ratkowski. [1] Fallon was replaced by Sebastian Bach on June 13, 1987.[ citation needed ]
After releasing three studio albums together, Skid Row began an unofficial hiatus in August 1996. [2] Bach left the band in December, claiming that Sabo and Bolan had fired him. [3] The group's remaining members formed Ozone Monday with vocalist Shawn McCabe in 1998. [4]
In January 1999, Sabo, Bolan and Hill reformed Skid Row, adding new lead vocalist Johnny Solinger and drummer Charlie Mills. [5] In July 2000, it was announced that Phil Varone had replaced Mills, who was forced to leave the band due to "lack of income". [6] The new drummer performed on the group's first studio album in over eight years, 2003's Thickskin , but in January 2004 left "abruptly" due to "personal reasons", with Timothy DiDuro taking his place. [7] Varone had rejoined by March, [8] but within two months had left again, with Dave Gara joining as his replacement. [9] Gara remained in the band until April 2010, [10] with Rob Hammersmith taking his place in May. [11]
After more than 15 years with the band, Solinger left Skid Row in April 2015, reportedly in order to focus on his solo career. [12] Sabo and Bolan later disputed that Solinger had left the band of his own accord, claiming that they had instead fired him. [13] Despite rumours of a reunion with Bach, Solinger was replaced by former TNT frontman Tony Harnell. [14] His tenure was short-lived, however, and by the end of the year he had departed after claiming that the other band members "ignored and disrespected" him. [15] Early the following year, Skid Row began touring with former DragonForce frontman ZP Theart, [16] who was made an official member of the band in January 2017. [17] Theart remained until March 2022, when he was replaced by Erik Grönwall. [18]
Grönwall left in March 2024, due to health issues. [19] His temporary replacement was Lzzy Hale of Halestorm. [20]

Slave to the Grind is the second studio album by American heavy metal band Skid Row, released on June 11, 1991, by Atlantic Records. The album displayed a harsher sound than its predecessor and lyrics that avoided hard rock cliches. Slave to the Grind is the first heavy metal album to chart at number one on the Billboard 200 in the Nielsen SoundScan era, selling 134,000 copies in its opening week. The album was certified 2× platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in 1998 for shipping two million copies in the United States. It produced five singles: "Monkey Business", "Slave to the Grind", "Wasted Time", "In a Darkened Room" and "Quicksand Jesus". Skid Row promoted the album opening for Guns N' Roses in 1991 and as a headliner the following year.
Subhuman Race is the third studio album by American heavy metal band Skid Row, released on March 28, 1995, by Atlantic Records. This is the last Skid Row album with singer Sebastian Bach and drummer Rob Affuso, and the last one to be released on Atlantic. Despite receiving positive reviews, Subhuman Race was not as successful as the band's first two albums. Certain tracks from the album were remixed for the band's compilation 40 Seasons: The Best of Skid Row, given slightly cleaner mixes to fit better with the other tracks.

Skid Row is an American rock band formed in 1986 in Toms River, New Jersey. Their current lineup comprises bassist Rachel Bolan, guitarists Dave Sabo and Scotti Hill and drummer Rob Hammersmith. The group achieved commercial success in the late 1980s and early 1990s, with its first two albums Skid Row (1989) and Slave to the Grind (1991) certified multi-platinum, the latter of which reached number one on the Billboard 200. Those two albums also produced some of Skid Row's most popular hits, both in and outside of the United States, including "18 and Life" and "I Remember You", which peaked in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100, and other charting singles such as "Youth Gone Wild", "Monkey Business", "Slave to the Grind", "Wasted Time", and "In a Darkened Room". The band's third album Subhuman Race (1995) was also critically acclaimed, but failed to repeat the success of its predecessors. Those three albums featured the band's "classic" lineup, which consisted of Bolan, Sabo, Hill, drummer Rob Affuso and frontman Sebastian Bach. The band had sold 20 million albums worldwide by the end of 1996.
