The following is an independently list of the best-selling albums in Italy. Federazione Industria Musicale Italiana (FIMI) or related publishers does not provide an official list but news and mainstream media usually have provided albums sales claims.

It is estimated that the best-selling album of all time in Italy is La vita è adesso (1985) by Claudio Baglioni which remained for 27 consecutive weeks in first place in Superclassifica TV Sorrisi e Canzoni , [1] from 16 June 1985 to 12 January 1986 (a record that still stands today) and a total of 90 weeks (18 months) in the top ten with more than 3,800,000 copies sold.

The best-selling album in the world by an Italian is Andrea Bocelli's Romanza , with estimated 17 million copies (800,000 in Italy). [2] The best selling foreign album in Italy is estimated to be True Blue by Madonna with 1.5 million copies. [3] [4]

His stage name is the Italian word for "sugar", as his elementary teacher used to call him. His music is largely inspired by gospel, soul, blues and rock music, and alternates between Italian ballads and more rhythmic R&B-boogie-like pieces. The Federazione Industria Musicale Italiana (FIMI) or Federation of the Italian Music Industry is an umbrella organization that keeps track of virtually all aspects of the music recording industry in Italy. It was established in 1992, when major corporate labels left the previously existing Associazione dei Fonografici Italiani (AFI). During the following years, most of the remaining Italian record labels left AFI to join the new organisation. As of 2011, FIMI represents 2,500 companies operating in the music business.

Renato Fiacchini, known by the stage name Renato Zero, is an Italian singer-songwriter, producer, dancer and actor whose career spans from the 1960s to the 2020s. Zero is the only artist to have reached the top of the Italian charts in six different decades. With 20 million records sold, he is one of the best-selling Italian music artists.

Emanuela Trane, stage name "Dolcenera", is an Italian singer, songwriter and actress. She rose to fame in 2003, after winning the newcomers' section of the Sanremo Music Festival, but she achieved commercial success in Italy only in 2005, when she won the music-based reality show Music Farm and she released her second album, Un mondo perfetto. In 2005 she was also awarded Best New Artist of the Year at the Italian Meeting of Independent Record Labels and she received the De André Award for Best Emerging Artist.

<i>Oro Incenso & Birra</i> 1989 studio album by Zucchero

Oro Incenso & Birra is the fifth studio album released by the Italian singer-songwriter Zucchero Fornaciari on 13 June 1989. As with his previous album Blue's, the album is credited to "Zucchero Sugar Fornaciari". Its title represents a pun on "oro incenso e mirra", the Italian for "gold, frankincense and myrrh", with mirra being replaced by birra, meaning beer.

"Almeno tu nell'universo" is a song written by Bruno Lauzi and Maurizio Fabrizio and recorded by Italian singer Mia Martini, who released it as a single in 1989 and included the track in her self-titled album Martini Mia. Martini performed the song for the first time at the Sanremo Music Festival 1989, where it placed 9th in a field of 24, but received the Critics' Award, which would be named after Martini herself after her death. The song later became a commercial success, being certified platinum by the Federation of the Italian Music Industry, and is now considered a classic of Italian popular music.

"Distratto" is a song recorded by Francesca Michielin, the winner of the fifth series of the Italian talent-show X Factor. The song, written by Elisa and Roberto Casalino, was arranged and produced by Andrea Rigonat. Michielin performed it for the first time during the semi-final of the show, on 29 December 2011. On 5 January 2012, after performing the song for a second time, Michielin was announced the winner, beating runner-up band I Moderni.
