Haradok is a town in the Vitebsk Region of Belarus with the population of 34,700 people. Approximately 14,000 people reside in the town itself around 30,000 people reside within the district. Haradok district is one of the largest in the country. The town is located on the north-east of Belarus and occupies around 3,000 square kilometers. It is situated 30 kilometers away from Vitebsk, the major city of one of the six provinces in the Republic of Belarus.

Pinsk Region was a territorial unit in the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic created after the annexation of West Belarus into the BSSR in November 1939. The administrative centre of the province was the city of Pinsk, the oblast was founded on 4 December 1939 with 16.3 thousand square km and 533.6 thousand people.

The Kalinin Front was a major formation of the Red Army active in the Eastern Front of World War II, named for the city of Kalinin. It was formally established by Stavka directive on 17 October 1941 and allocated three armies: 22nd, 29th Army and 30th. The European route E95 is a road in Europe and a part of the United Nations International E-road network. Approximately 2,527 kilometres (1,570 mi) long, it connects St Petersburg with Merzifon in north central Turkey. Between its northern terminus in Russia and its southern end, it passes in addition through Belarus and Ukraine. Between the ports of Odessa / Chornomorsk on Ukraine's southern coast and ports of Turkey vehicles are required to cross the Black Sea by ferry over a distance of 731 kilometres (454 mi).

Lake Ezerische is lake in Haradok district, Vitebsk Voblast of Belarus and is situated at the border with the Pskov Oblast of the Russia. In 1959, on the river flowing out of Lake a hydroelectric power plant was built. This led to the raising of the water level. Raising the water level leads to erosion of its banks. The lake is dated to the Glacial period and is about 10,000 years. The largest settlement on the bank of the lake is Ezerische a settlement located on the western shore of the lake. On one of the islands in Lake located Ezerishche Castle. Up to the present day only ramparts of the castle preserved.
