Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences is one of the three medical universities in Tehran, the capital of Iran. It began in 1961 with the establishment of the Schools of Medicine and Dentistry. Following the merging of some of the treatment and educational units and organizations affiliated with the then-Ministry of Health and “Melli University” in 1986, Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences began its activities independently.

The School of Cognitive Sciences forms part of the Institute for Studies in Theoretical Physics and Mathematics (IPM) in Tehran, Iran. The school was called the School of Intelligent Systems (SIS) until 2003 when it was renamed to the School of Cognitive Sciences. The research is predominantly focused on cognitive neuroscience.

He is currently a full Professor of Urology in the Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences. He is currently full professor at the Department of Urology, Shahid Beheshti University, and Vice-president of International Urological Association. According to a google scholar report, Professor Simforoosh's research works have been referred to 1,494 times and 3169 citations.

Nahid Khodakarami is an Iranian retired professor, Public Health Specialist, Registered Midwife and a human right activism. She was born in Khonsar city. She was a faculty member at Isfahan Medical University and Shahid Beheshti Medical University of Medical Sciences for 30 years. She was retired now however still continued her academic and research activities with SBMU as an advisor. She is an activist/ researcher for Human right, women right and reproductive health, health policy and health equity. She got 1172000 votes for Tehran city council election in 2017 and was elected as a member of the City Council of Tehran.(2017-2021).

Hossein Fakhraee is an Iranian neonatologist and pediatrician practicing in Tehran since 1980. He was a faculty member of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences until August 2017 upon his retirement as the university distinguished professor. He has been named as one of the few neonatologists who assisted in establishing modern neonatal medicine in Iran.
