<span class="mw-page-title-main">Nicolae Ciucă</span> 70th Prime Minister of Romania

Nicolae Ionel Ciucă is a Romanian politician and retired general of the Romanian Land Forces who is serving as the president of the Senate of Romania. Ideologically a conservative, he served as Prime Minister of Romania between 25 November 2021 and 12 June 2023 after receiving widespread parliamentary support on behalf of his own party, the National Liberal Party (PNL) along with the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania (UDMR/RMDSZ). Since 10 April 2022, he has also been serving as the president of the National Liberal Party (PNL). On 12 June 2023, he resigned as prime minister, as part of a deal with his coalition partner, the PSD, to switch places with Marcel Ciolacu, and was temporarily replaced by Cătălin Predoiu.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Piatra Neamț hospital fire</span> 2020 fire in Piatra Neamț, Romania

On 14 November 2020, around 18:30 EET, a fire broke out in the COVID-19 ward of the Piatra Neamț Emergency Hospital in Piatra Neamț, Romania. The fire killed ten people and injured another four, including two doctors. All the deceased people were patients receiving treatment for COVID-19. Many in the ward were on ventilators. The fire brought back to the public's attention the state of the Romanian health system, as well as the political interference in hospital management.

Diana Iovanovici Șoșoacă is a Romanian lawyer, activist, and far-right politician. Șoșoacă rose to prominence as an anti-vaccine activist during the COVID-19 pandemic. She has served as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for S.O.S. Romania since her election in 2024.

On 29 January 2021, at around 05:00 EET, a fire broke out at the COVID-19 facility in the Prof. Dr. Matei Balș National Institute for Infectious Diseases in Bucharest, Romania, killing five people. On 4 February 2021, the death toll on the fire was reported to have risen to 12. The death toll rose again to 14 on 6 February 2021, with one more death added to the death toll on 8 February 2021 and two more again on 9 February 2021.

Presidential elections were held in Romania on 24 November 2024. A second round will be held on 8 December 2024, as no candidate achieved an absolute majority in the first round. On 18 September 2022, protests in Moldova began in the capital city of Chișinău, demanding the resignation of the country's pro-Western government, amid an energy crisis causing rising natural gas prices and inflation, caused in part by the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The tenth season of the Romanian reality talent show Vocea României premiered on ProTV on September 9, 2022. Irina Rimes and Tudor Chirilă returned as coaches, while Denis 'The Motans' replaced Horia Brenciu. Smiley was joined by Theo Rose, for the first time in the history of the contest there being a double-coached team. Meanwhile, Pavel Bartoș returned for his tenth season as host. Iulia Pârlea acted as the green room host during the live shows.
