This is a list of schools within Houston. Almost all of the city is in Harris County but some parts are in Fort Bend County and Montgomery County.

County-operated schools

In addition the Harris County Department of Education, which is not classified as a school district under Texas law, operates HCDE Academic and Behavior Schools with two campuses in Houston, East and West. [46] They were previously known as Adaptive Behavior Centers (ABC). As of 2001 all school districts in the county may send students to these schools. [47]

Atascocita is a census-designated place (CDP) in an unincorporated area within Harris County, Texas, United States within the Houston metropolitan area. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 65,569. It is located north and south of Farm to Market Road 1960 about 6 miles (10 km) east of Humble and 18 miles (29 km) northeast of downtown Houston in northeastern Harris County.

Pearland is a city in the U.S. state of Texas, within Brazoria County, with portions extending into Fort Bend and Harris counties. The city of Pearland is a principal city within the Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land metropolitan statistical area. At the 2010 U.S. census, the city's population was 91,252, up from a population of 37,640 at the 2000 census. Pearland's population growth rate from 2000 to 2010 was 142 percent, which ranked Pearland as the 15th-fastest-growing city in the U.S. during that time period, compared to other cities with a population of 10,000 or greater in 2000. Pearland is the third-largest city in the Greater Houston area, and from 2000 to 2010, ranked as the fastest-growing city in Greater Houston and the second-fastest-growing city in Texas. Per the American Community Survey of 2019 the population had risen to an estimated 131,448.

Mission Bend, Texas Census-designated place in Texas, United States

Mission Bend is a census-designated place (CDP) around Texas State Highway 6 within the extraterritorial jurisdiction of Houston in Fort Bend and Harris counties in the U.S. state of Texas; Mission Bend is 4 miles (6 km) northwest of the city hall of Sugar Land and 20 miles (32 km) southwest of Downtown Houston. The population was 36,501 at the 2010 census.

Stafford, Texas City in Texas, United States

Stafford is a city in the U.S. state of Texas, in the Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land metropolitan area. The city is mostly in Fort Bend County, with a small part in Harris County. As of the 2010 census, Stafford's population was 17,693, up from 15,681 at the 2000 census. As of 2019, the population had decreased to an estimated 17,362.

Friendswood, Texas City in Texas, United States

Friendswood is a city in the U.S. state of Texas. It is part of the Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land metropolitan area. The city lies in Galveston and Harris Counties. As of the 2010 census, the population of Friendswood was 35,805.

Kingwood, Houston Community of Houston and Master planned area in Texas, United States

Kingwood is a 14,000 acre (57 km²) master-planned community located in northeast Houston, Texas, United States. The majority of the community is located in Harris County with a small portion in Montgomery County. Known as the "Livable Forest," it is the largest master-planned community in Harris County and second-largest within the 10-county Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land metropolitan area. It was classified as a "census-designated place" during the 1990 census, when the population recorded was 37,397. It is on the east fork of the San Jacinto River.

Alief Independent School District School district in Houston, Texas

Alief Independent School District is a school district that is based in southwest Houston, Texas, United States.

Alief is a working-class suburb in Southwest Harris County, Texas, United States. Most of Alief is within the city limits of Houston, while a portion of the community is in unincorporated Harris County.

Pasadena Independent School District is a school district that is based in Pasadena, Texas, United States.

The Aldine Independent School District is a public school district based in unincorporated Harris County, Texas, United States. It serves portions of Houston and unincorporated Harris County. Aldine ISD serves the communities of Aldine, most of Greenspoint, most of East Aldine, and portions of Airline, Acres Homes, Kinwood, Bordersville, and Inwood Forest. The district is part of the taxation base for the Lone Star College System. As of 2020, Dr. LaTonya Goffney serves as superintendent of schools.

Spring Independent School District School district in Texas

Spring Independent School District is a school district based in the Gordon M. Anderson Leadership Center in unincorporated Harris County, Texas, United States. It is located in north Harris County.

Galena Park Independent School District School district in Texas

Galena Park Independent School District is a school district based in the Channelview CDP of unincorporated Harris County, Texas, United States.

Humble Independent School District is a school district located in Humble, Texas, United States. It serves the city of Humble, small portions of the city of Houston, and portions of unincorporated Harris County. For the 2018–2019 school year, the district enrolled 43,553 students.

Kingwood Park High School School in Houston, Texas, United States

Kingwood Park High School (K-Park) is a high school located within the Kingwood community of Houston, Texas, United States. Kingwood Park is a part of the Humble Independent School District. On average, Kingwood Park serves approximately 1,700 students.

Bordersville, Houston Place in Texas, United States

Bordersville is a predominantly African American community on Farm to Market Road 1960 in northeast Harris County, Texas, United States. The community, located less than one half-mile from George Bush Intercontinental Airport, has about 80% of its territory in the City of Houston and the rest in an unincorporated area.

The Airline Improvement District is a management district in unincorporated Harris County, Texas in Greater Houston and located entirely within the postal zip code of 77037.

C.E. King High School Public school in Houston, Harris County, Texas, United States

C.E. King High School is a secondary school located in unincorporated Harris County, Texas, United States and serves grades 9 through 12. It is the only high school in the Sheldon Independent School District. The school serves unincorporated areas of northeast Harris County including the Sheldon CDP and several nearby communities and subdivisions.

Iman Academy is an Islamic K-12 private school system in Houston with two campuses serving grades one through grade twelve. Iman Academy was established in 1995 by a group of community members and families.
