Liz Kingsman is an Australian comedian and actress.

Career

Comedy

In the mid-2010s she was in the improv trio Massive Dad alongside Stevie Martin and Tessa Coates. [1] [2] [3]

She first performed her show One Woman Show in 2019, and later performed it at the Vault Festival in 2020, before a run at the Soho Theatre from October 2021, and then the 2022 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where she was nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award. [4] [5]

She went on to perform One Woman Show in the West End and won The Times Breakthrough Award at the South Bank Sky Arts Awards, and was also nominated for the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Entertainment or Comedy Play. She took the show to the Sydney Opera House and in New York. [1] [6]

Acting

Kingsman after university began working as a runner on film productions, where he jobs included being a stand-in for Natalie Portman on Thor and Felicity Jones on The Invisible Woman . She was cast in British political comedy series Ballot Monkeys in 2015 and reprised her role in spin-off comedy series Power Monkeys . [5] [7]

She appeared in two series of the British Channel 5 2016 mockumentary series Borderline , [8] as well as British comedy series Pls Like , King Gary and Timewasters , and the French comedy series Icon of French Cinema. [9] [10]

She also appeared in Rose Matafeo comedy series Starstruck . [11] She appeared as an English parliamentary assistant in the pan-European comedy series Parlement . [2] [1] The second series of which won the Comedy Drama and Sitcom Rose d'Or Award in November 2023. [12]

In 2024, she was confirmed in the cast for UKTV show I, Jack Wright . [13] That year, she had a guest role as Baroness Von Louth in Apple TV comedy series The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin. [14]

Personal life

From Sydney, Australia, the daughter of graphic designers, she has a British mother with whom she would watch British comedies when she was growing-up. She attended Durham University in England, where she studied English and History and took-up sketch comedy. She later moved to London, and then Dorset. [2] [1] [5]

The Inbetweeners is a British coming-of-age television teen sitcom, which originally aired on E4 from 2008 to 2010 and was created and written by Damon Beesley and Iain Morris. The series follows the misadventures of suburban teenager William McKenzie and his friends Simon Cooper, Neil Sutherland and Jay Cartwright at the fictional Rudge Park Comprehensive. The programme involves situations of school life, uncaring school staff, friendship, male bonding, lad culture and adolescent sexuality. <i>Timewasters</i> UK television comedy

Timewasters is a British science-fiction comedy television programme, first broadcast on ITV2 in 2017 with a second series broadcast in 2019. It was created by Daniel Lawrence Taylor and written by Taylor and Barunka O'Shaughnessy. It was produced for ITV Studios by Kenton Allen and Matthew Justice of Big Talk Productions. The episodes were directed by George Kane. The programme stars Taylor, Adelayo Adedayo, Samson Kayo and Kadiff Kirwan as the members of an unsuccessful all-black South London jazz quartet who time-travel to the 1920s, and later the 1950s, visiting the Jazz Age and post-war cool jazz period while experiencing culture clashes as they manoeuvre in the unfamiliar eras.

Starstruck is a comedy television series created by Rose Matafeo, co-written with Alice Snedden, directed by Karen Maine, and starring Matafeo and Nikesh Patel with Minnie Driver in a special guest starring role. A second series was commissioned before the first series aired. Series one premiered 25 April 2021 and series two was released on 2 February 2022. In June 2022, the series was renewed for a third season, and it was released on 28 August 2023. The series received positive critical reception.

<i>We Are Lady Parts</i> British sitcom

We Are Lady Parts is a British television sitcom created, written, and directed by Nida Manzoor. The series follows a British punk rock band named Lady Parts, which consists entirely of Muslim women.

Samson Kayo is a British actor, producer and writer. He was nominated for the British Academy Television Award for Best Male Comedy Performance in 2018 for the BBC sketch show Famalam (2017–2020). He created, wrote and starred in the Sky One sitcom Bloods (2021–2022), and received a nomination for the same award in 2022. He won the Royal Television Society Programme Awards for Best Male Comedy Performance in the latter role in 2022, having also been nominated in 2019 and 2023. He also created and stars in Sliced (2019–2020), and his other credits include Youngers (2013), Timewasters (2017), and Our Flag Means Death (2022–2023).

The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin is a British historical comedy television series starring Noel Fielding as the title character. Developed by Big Talk Studios, the series premiered on 1 March 2024 on Apple TV+. In July 2024, the series was renewed for a second season.
