Loran de Munck OLY (born 9 May 1999) is a Dutch artistic gymnast. At the 2022 European Championships, he became the first Dutch gymnast to win a European medal on the pommel horse. He is also the 2024 European pommel horse silver medalist and a 2024 Olympic finalist on the same apparatus.

Early life

De Munck was born on 9 May 1999 in Haarlem. [1] He began gymnastics when he was five years old. [2]

Gymnastics career

2021

De Munck finished ninth on the pommel horse in the qualification round of the 2021 European Championships, making him the first reserve for the event final. [3] At the Varna World Challenge Cup, he finished eighth on the parallel bars. [4] Then at the 2021 World Championships, he was the third reserve for the pommel horse final. [5]

2022

De Munck finished eighth on the parallel bars at the 2022 Baku World Cup. [6] Then at the Varna World Challenge Cup, he finished fourth in the pommel horse final. [7] He then won the silver medal on the pommel horse at the 2022 European Championships, only 0.033 behind Armenia's Harutyun Merdinyan. This was the first time a Dutch gymnast won a European medal on the pommel horse. [1] [8] Then at the 2022 World Championships, he placed sixth in the pommel horse final after a fall. [9] [10] Additionally, the Dutch team finished 13th in the qualification round. [11]

2023

At the 2023 Cairo World Cup, De Munck finished sixth on the pommel horse and fifth on the parallel bars. [12] He then finished fourth in the pommel horse final at the 2023 European Championships after losing the execution-score tiebreaker for the bronze medal. [13] At the 2023 World Championships, de Munck and the Dutch team placed 11th in the qualification round and earned a team berth for the 2024 Olympic Games. [14] Individually, he was the second reserve for the pommel horse final. [15]

2024

De Munck finished seventh in the pommel horse final at the 2024 Cottbus World Cup. [16] He then won a silver medal on the pommel horse at the 2024 European Championships behind Ireland's Rhys McClenaghan. [17] He was then selected to compete at the 2024 Summer Olympics alongside Jermain Grünberg, Martijn de Veer, Frank Rijken, and Casimir Schmidt. [18] The team finished 10th in the qualification round, making them the second reserves for the team final. [19] Individually, de Munck qualified for the pommel horse event final and finished eighth. Marios Georgiou is a Cypriot artistic gymnast. He is the 2024 European all-around champion, and the 2022 European horizontal bar champion and the first gymnast from Cyprus to win a European title, and a major all-around title. He is the 2019 European Championships all-around bronze medalist which made him the first gymnast from Cyprus to win a European medal. He is the 2019 European Games parallel bars silver medalist. At the 2018 Commonwealth Games, he won the gold medals in the floor exercise and parallel bars and the bronze medal in the all-around, and he won four bronze medals at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. He is the 2018 Mediterranean Games all-around and horizontal bar champion and the 2022 Mediterranean Games horizontal bar champion. He competed at the 2016, 2020, and 2024 Olympic Games.

Tin Srbić is a Croatian artistic gymnast. He is the 2017 World champion on the horizontal bar and the first Croatian to win a gold medal at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. Nariman Khusanjanuly Kurbanov is a Kazakhstani artistic gymnast who is a pommel horse specialist. He is the 2024 Olympic silver medalist as well as the 2023 and 2024 Asian champion on the event. He is also the 2022 Asian Games bronze medalist on the pommel horse.

Illia Yuriiovych Kovtun is a Ukrainian artistic gymnast. He is the 2023 World all-around silver medalist and 2021 World all-around bronze medalist. At the European Championships he is the 2023 European champion on parallel bars as well as a one-time silver medalist and a three-time bronze medalist. Additionally he is a two-time junior world championships medalist.

Audrys Nin Reyes is a Dominican artistic gymnast. He is the 2019 and 2023 Pan American Games vault champion. He was the first Dominican gymnast to win a gold medal at the Pan American Games. He was also the first Dominican gymnast to win a gold medal at an FIG World Cup event when he won the vault title at the 2017 Osijek World Challenge Cup. He is the 2017 Pan American vault and horizontal bar champion and the 2017 Universiade vault champion. He is also the 2018 and 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games vault champion. He has qualified to represent the Dominican Republic at the 2024 Summer Olympics, the first male gymnast from his country to do so.

Ahmad Abu Al-Soud is a Jordanian artistic gymnast. He became the first gymnast from Jordan to medal at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships when he won the silver medal on pommel horse at the 2022 World Championships. He then won the bronze medal on the pommel horse at the 2023 World Championships. He is also the 2019 and 2022 Asian champion on the pommel horse. He represented Jordan at the 2024 Summer Olympics, the first gymnast from Jordan to do so.

Khabibullo Khimayatullah Ergashev is an Uzbekistani artistic gymnast. He qualified to represent Uzbekistan at the 2024 Summer Olympics and finished 41st in the all-around during the qualification round. He won team silver medals at the 2024 Asian Championships and the 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games.

Abdulla Azimov is an Uzbekistani artistic gymnast. He won the all-around bronze medal at the 2024 Asian Championships and qualified to represent Uzbekistan at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
