Deathcore is an extreme metal subgenre that combines death metal with metalcore. The genre consists of death metal guitar riffs, blast beats, and metalcore breakdowns. While there are some precursors to the concept of death metal fused with metalcore/hardcore elements seen in the 1990s, deathcore itself emerged in the early 2000s and gained prominence beginning in the mid-2000s within the southwestern United States, especially Arizona and inland southern California, which are home to many notable bands and various festivals.
Carnifex is an American deathcore band from San Diego County, California. Formed in 2005, they are currently signed to Nuclear Blast after having been signed to Victory Records. They have released nine studio albums and three EPs. Since 2022, the band has consisted of founding members, lead vocalist Scott Ian Lewis and drummer Shawn Cameron, along with rhythm guitarist Cory Arford, bassist Fred Calderon and lead guitarist Neal Tiemann.

Bad Omens is an American heavy metal band from Richmond, Virginia, formed in 2015 by vocalist and producer Noah Sebastian, guitarist Nicholas Ruffilo, and bassist Vincent Riquier. The band was later joined by guitarist and producer Joakim "Jolly" Karlsson and drummer Nick Folio, releasing their critically acclaimed debut self-titled album in 2016 under Sumerian Records. Slaughter to Prevail is a Russian deathcore band based in Orlando, Florida. The group debuted with an EP entitled Chapters of Misery in 2015, followed by a full-length album, Misery Sermon, in 2017. Their second album, Kostolom, was released in 2021. The band is currently signed to Sumerian Records and have toured throughout the US, Europe, Canada, and Asia. The band has had numerous line-up changes over the years, with vocalist Alex Terrible and guitarist Jack Simmons as the sole consistent members.
Immortal is the third studio album by American deathcore band Lorna Shore. It was released on January 31, 2020 through Century Media Records and was produced by Josh Schroeder. The album is the band's first studio release with the label. It is also their first studio release to not feature founding vocalist Tom Barber, who left the band to join Chelsea Grin. It is the band's only studio album to feature vocalist CJ McCreery, who joined the band in 2018 and was fired in December 2019, a month before the album's release date. In addition to the 2017 departure of bassist Gary Herrera, this marks the band's first studio album to feature no founding members.

The band consists of vocalist Taylor Barber, bassist Christian Nowatzki, guitarists Peter Higgs and Jacob Gordon, and drummer Alex Vavra. Left to Suffer released their debut album, A Year of Suffering, in 2020. In 2023, they released Feral, their second full-length album. Their third studio album, Leap of Death, was released in 2024.
