The cover was designed by British graphic design agency Build featuring photography by Timothy Saccenti, and the album title is named after Flying Lotus' place of birth.

Resident Advisor ranked Los Angeles as the third best album of 2008, [13] while Fact ranked it as the year's tenth best album. [14] Pitchfork placed it at number 28 on its list of the best albums of 2008. [15] In 2017, Los Angeles ranked at number 14 on Pitchfork's list of "The 50 Best IDM Albums of All Time". [2]

Vocal Studies + Uprock Narratives is a 2001 studio album by Guillermo Scott Herren, the first released under the name Prefuse 73. The album was released on June 11, 2001, on Warp. The music was created by Herren alone, with some tracks featuring guest vocals from MCs Mikah 9, MF Doom and Aesop Rock as well as vocalist Sam Prekop from The Sea and Cake. Inspired by Miami bass and early 90s hip hop, Herren had been recording music with his Music Production Center (MPC) for Schematic Records, a label known primarily for intelligent dance music (IDM). After working with various local hip hop artists making what he described as "very boring rap beats", Herren was inspired to take his music in a more left-field direction.

Released on 5 November 2007 by Hyperdub, the album was produced by Burial in 2007 using the digital audio editing software Sound Forge. Untrue builds on the sound established by Burial on his eponymous debut album from the previous year, notably through its more prominent use of pitch-shifted and time-stretched vocal samples. You're Dead! is the fifth studio album by American music producer Flying Lotus, released on October 6, 2014 by Warp Records. Flying Lotus recorded the album at his home in Los Angeles, using Ableton Live and other instruments and software. Like his previous two albums Cosmogramma and Until the Quiet Comes, You're Dead! features extensive contributions from Thundercat, who plays bass guitar on nearly every track and provides vocals on several. It also features guest performances from Angel Deradoorian, Niki Randa, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Kamasi Washington, Jeff Lynne, Kimbra, and Herbie Hancock, along with Captain Murphy, Flying Lotus' rapper alter ego.

Death Peak is the eighth studio album by British electronic musician Chris Clark and the sixth one under the moniker Clark. Announced on 17 February 2017, it was released on 7 April 2017 by Warp Records. Upon its announcement its first single, "Peak Magnetic", was released freely for streaming on SoundCloud. The design of the album cover is that of a crumpled photograph of Clark himself, produced by photographer Alma Haser.

The lead single, the spoken-word "Fire Is Coming" featuring David Lynch, was released along with its video on April 17, 2019. The album also features contributions from Anderson .Paak, George Clinton, Little Dragon, Tierra Whack, Denzel Curry, Shabazz Palaces, Thundercat, Toro y Moi and Solange. A deluxe version of the album with the instrumentals was released on May 29, 2020.
