Lotpot is a bilingual comic magazine published by Mayapuri Group. Lotpot title was registered by Mr. A.P. Bajaj in 1969 and the first issue came out in the same year and has been published without a break since then. Popular characters of Lotpot Comics "Motu Patlu" have a 3D animated show successfully running since the last 10 years on Nickelodeon India TV Channel and still continues entertaining kids with its rib tickling content.

History

Initially it was a weekly magazine which later on switched to fortnightly magazine after 2011. Later on, the magazine started publishing in English as well as Hindi. [1] [2] [3] The circulation of Hindi versions reached 175,000 and of English version to 225,000. [2]

Lotpot Comics belongs to the famous Mayapuri Group (www.mayapurigroup.com). [4] It was started by Late Shri. A.P.Bajaj who successfully ran a printing press for calendars after he migrated from Pakistan to India in 1947. After the success of Lotpot Comics he launched Mayapuri Magazine which is into Bollywood Journalism.

Characters of Lotpot Comics got the opportunity to feature on air and became a superhit show for kids such as Motu Patlu and Sheikh Chilli on Nickelodeon and Discovery Kids respectively.

Chacha Chaudhary – the famous and legendary cartoon character of Hindi comic strip, was created by Pran Kumar Sharma in 1969 for Lotpot magazine, though it made its first appearance in 1971 in Lotpot. [5]

Associations

Lotpot Comics has had popular brand associations and collaborations in the past few years. Below are some of the associations.

Nickelodeon (India) – Motu Patlu's 3D animated series on Nickelodeon India, which still continues to entertain audiences as of today.

Income Tax Department – Recently the Income Tax department created comic books where Motu Patlu explain the benefits of paying taxes and its use for the public good and infrastructure development in India. The comic books were launched by Honorable Finance Minister of India, Nirmala Sitaraman. [6] [7]

Madame Tussauds India – Madame Tussauds India placed the Motu Patlu statues along with other famous known personalities at DLF Mall of India, Noida along with the Motu Patlu Statues there is also an interactive comic book screen with LOTPOT Characters and Neetu's Adventure Tapping Game for audiences to play. The same has been well received and engaged audiences regularly. There is also a Motu Patlu - Madame Tussauds comic book available for sale at the merchandise counter. [8] [9]

Austrian Embassy – The Austrian Embassy in Delhi collaborated with Lotpot Comics to release 2 comic books. Motu Patlu in Salzberg Motu Patlu in Vienna as part of boosting tourism in their country. [10] [11]

Pidilite Rangeela – We did a paid collaboration with Pidilite group wherein Pidilite gave free mini comic books along with its new range of crayons to kids as a promotional gift in the Rangeela Khazana Pack.

Toonpur Ka Super Hero In December 2010, Lotpot had tied up with Ajay Devgan's animation film for children Toonpoor Ka Superhero and has come out with six special editions of the Lotpot. [12]

In 1977, one of the characters in the comic, Cheeky, proved popular enough to get his own comic, Cheeky, which was later merged into Whoopee!. The comic included a "disguise" back-cover, such as the cover of a diary or brochure, which allowed readers to hide the comic from parents or teachers.

Buster Brown is a comic-strip character created in 1902 by Richard F. Outcault. Adopted as the mascot of the Brown Shoe Company in 1904, Buster Brown, along with Mary Jane, and with his dog Tige, became well known to the American public in the early 20th century. The character's name was used to describe a popular style of suit for young boys, the Buster Brown suit, that reflected his outfit.

In the field of criticism of modern Marathi poetry, his contributions have attracted the attention of scholars of Marathi language and literature throughout Maharashtra. He was the president of prestigious 90th Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan held in Dombivali. Kale is also member of general Council of Sahitya Akademi, India.

<i>Motu Patlu</i> Indian animated television show

Motu Patlu is an Indian animated sitcom that premiered on Nickelodeon in India on 16 October 2012. This show is available in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi, Kannada and Bengali. The series is adapted from the classic comic strip Lotpot. It focuses on the misadventures of two friends, Motu and Patlu, landing in trouble and comical situations, later being rescued only by luck. It is one of the most popular kids' shows in India.

<i>Motu Patlu: King of Kings</i> 2016 Indian film

Motu Patlu: King of Kings is a 2016 Indian animated adventure action-drama and thriller-comedy film directed by Suhas D. Kadav and produced by Ketan Mehta. The film was inspired by the popular TV series Motu Patlu, which itself was adapted from characters published by Lotpot magazine. It is the first feature-length film based on the characters. The film was released on 14 October 2016 and became a successful venture at the box office. It received mixed reviews from critics, who appreciated its voice performances, humor, and animation but criticized its plot, violence and editing.

Om Prakash Choudhary is an Indian politician and serving as the Minister of Finance of Government of Chhattisgarh. He was former Indian Administrative Service Officer, who is currently serving as a member of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly representing Raigarh since 2023.
