George W. Van Cleaf was an American water polo player and swimmer who represented the United States at the 1904 Summer Olympics in St. Louis, Missouri. At the 1904 Olympics, Van Cleaf was sponsored by the New York Athletic Club. He won a gold medal as a member of the New York Athletic Club's Olympic water polo team, and was also a member of the NYAC's fourth-place team in the men's 4x50-yard freestyle relay. He and his water polo teammate, David Bratton, died of typhoid fever within four months after the competition. In 1988, he was inducted into the USA Water Polo Hall of Fame.

Zachary Beeck is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the East Perth and Peel Thunder Football Clubs in the West Australian Football League (WAFL), as well as one match for the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL). He is known more for his Cricketing Career than his AFL career. He travelled around England in the early stages of life with a young Australian team and averaged 90 in his batting career as a number 3. He had a tough choice to make between AFL and Cricket and stuck to AFL much despite his better cricketing path.

With Roy Heiner as helmsman and Dirk de Ridder as fellow crew member, Van Niekerk took the 4th place in the Soling. In the 2004 Olympics in Athena Van Niekerk made his second Olympic appearance. This time in the Star with Mark Neeleman as helmsman. They took 14th place.
