Lucerne or Luzern is a city in central Switzerland, in the German-speaking portion of the country. Lucerne is the capital of the canton of Lucerne and part of the district of the same name. With a population of approximately 82,000 people, Lucerne is the most populous city in Central Switzerland, and a nexus of economics, transportation, culture, and media in the region. The city's urban area consists of 19 municipalities and towns with an overall population of about 220,000 people.
The Swiss Museum of Transport or Verkehrshaus der Schweiz in Lucerne opened in July 1959 and exhibits all forms of transport including trains, automobiles, ships and aircraft as well as communication technology. It is Switzerland's most popular museum. The museum also maintains a large collection of work by Hans Erni, a local painter and sculptor.

Meggenhorn Castle is a castle in Meggen near the Swiss city of Lucerne. It was built in 1868/70 by Edouad Hofer-Grosjean from Mulhouse and in 1926 equipped with a Welte Philharmonic Organ. It is surrounded by vineyards and is considered to be the municipality's symbol. Today, it is mostly used as a tourist attraction and reception venue. It is a Swiss heritage site of national significance.
The Eurovision Young Musicians 2004 was the twelfth edition of the Eurovision Young Musicians, held at the Culture and Congress Centre in Lucerne, Switzerland on 27 May 2004. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Swiss Broadcasting Corporation, musicians from seven countries participated in the televised final. Switzerland and broadcaster SRG SSR previously hosted the contest in 1984. A total of seventeen countries took part in the competition therefore a semi-final was held in the same venue on 22 and 23 May 2004. All participants performed a classical piece of their choice accompanied by the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Christian Arming.
Villa Senar is an estate built in Switzerland by the Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff. He purchased the plot of land near Hertenstein on the shores of Lake Lucerne in 1932. The name of the estate originated from the names of Rachmaninoff and his wife: Sergei and Natalia, by combining the first two letters of each given name and the first of their surname.

The 21st Century Symphony Orchestra is a European orchestra. It was founded in 1999 by conductor Ludwig Wicki. The orchestra performs live concerts featuring soundtracks written by notable composers for major motion picture productions. The orchestra performs in various cities throughout Europe, although most performances take place at the Lucerne Culture and Congress Centre in Lucerne, Switzerland.
The Gütsch Funicular, also known as the Drahtseilbahn Gütsch (DBG) or simply the Gütschbahn, is a funicular railway in the city of Lucerne in the Swiss canton of Lucerne. The line links a lower station located on Baselstrasse, some 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) west of the centre of the city, with an upper station adjacent to the Château Gütsch hotel, 90 m above.
