Germany claims some of the most renowned composers, singers, producers and performers of the world. Germany is the largest music market in Europe, and third largest in the world.
The Paléo Festival de Nyon, usually just called Paléo, is an annual rock festival held in Nyon, Switzerland. It started in a small way in 1976 as the Nyon Folk Festival. The first one was held in the village hall in Nyon. From 1977 until 1989, it was held at Colovray, Nyon, by Lake Geneva and had only two stages, but today it is one of the major open-air music festivals in mainland Europe and the biggest in Switzerland. Today the event has grown to include international artists. In 1990, it moved to its current location, at the Plaine de l'Asse, accessible either by walking, bus or the Chemin de fer Nyon-St-Cergue-Morez narrow-gauge railway.
The Sziget Festival is one of the largest music and cultural festivals in Europe. It is held every August in northern Budapest, Hungary, on Óbudai-sziget, a leafy 108-hectare (266-acre) island on the Danube. More than 1,000 performances take place each year.
The FM4 Frequency Festival, also Frequency Festival or just Frequency, formerly Vienna City Festival, is a music festival. Until 2008, it took place near Salzburg Austria, usually every August. In 2009, the Festival moved to St. Pölten. It is promoted by one of Austria's national radio stations, FM4, and is generally associated with the alternative part of mainstream music. The lineups accumulate acts of various genres such as rock, electronica and hip hop, usually covering great parts of the German and Austrian alternative, indie and guitar pop scenes, but also featuring well-known international top acts.
The Southside Festival is an annual music festival that takes place near Tuttlingen, Germany, usually every June. The festival as well as its artists and audiences are generally associated within the alternative part of popular music.
The Hultsfred Festival was an annual music festival held in Hultsfred, Sweden. It took place at the lake Hulingen for three days in June or July, from Thursday to Saturday. Since the first festival in 1986, its attendance increased from 7,500 visitors to approximately 32,000 people in 2005. With its five different stages, the Hultsfred Festival hosted many bands each year from all over Scandinavia and the world alike.
Pukkelpop is an annual music festival that takes place near the city of Hasselt, Belgium in mid- to late August. It is held within a large enclosure of fields and woodland—adjacent to a dual carriageway called Kempische Steenweg—in the village of Kiewit, approximately 7 km north of Hasselt. It is one of the largest music festivals in Belgium, with an attendance of 180,000 over the course of the event in 2009.
Rock for People (RfP) is a large open-air summer rock festival in the Czech Republic. The festival began in 1995 in the town of Český Brod. In 2007, it was moved to an unused airport in Hradec Králové. Headlining acts have included Muse, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Arctic Monkeys, My Chemical Romance, the Offspring, the Killers, Paramore, and Massive Attack.
The Rock am Ring and Rock im Park festivals are two simultaneous rock music festivals held annually. While Rock am Ring takes place at the Nürburgring race track, Rock im Park takes place at the Zeppelinfeld in Nuremberg.
The Eurockéennes de Belfort is one of France's largest rock music festivals. The Eurockéennes, a play on words involving rock and européennes (Europeans), is a festival based in a nature reserve beside Lac de Malsaucy Belfort.
The Caribana Festival in Crans-près-Céligny, Vaud, Switzerland started in 1990 as an opportunity for people in Switzerland to enjoy live music at the shores of Lake Léman. The event has grown over the years and changed from a free, small, local festival to an international event with 19,500 visitors in 2005.

Dirk Albert Felsenheimer, better known under his stage name Bela B, is a German musician, songwriter, actor and author, best known for being the drummer and one of the singers of punk rock band Die Ärzte. In 2006, he released his first solo album entitled Bingo. He is also an actor and has done several voice-overs for television and film.
iTunes LP is a format for interactive album artwork introduced by Apple Inc. on September 9, 2009. It is similar to the CMX format being developed by the three major record labels, and operates within the iTunes 9 to iTunes 12 software, allowing the user to view multimedia elements alongside the music. This format is also used to bundle extra content with selected movies at the iTunes Store.

The Bravo Otto is a German accolade honoring excellence of performers in film, television and music. Established in 1957, the award is presented annually, with winners selected by the readers of Bravo magazine. The award is presented in gold, silver and bronze and, since 1996, an honorary platinum statuette presented for lifetime achievement.
Deichbrand is a music festival that takes place in or near Cuxhaven, usually every July/August. The festival and its guests are generally associated with metal, emo, rock, pop, and hip-hop. Deichbrand was sold out in advance for the first time, with an attendance of about 18,000 people in 2011.
Openair Frauenfeld is an annual hip hop music festival that takes place in Frauenfeld in July. It is considered to be the largest open air festival in Switzerland and the largest hip hop music festival in Europe. The event has been held since 1985. It used to be a rock and blues festival called Out in the Green Festival, which also took place in Winterthur. It was changed to Openair Frauenfeld in 2007. It has hosted numerous high-profile celebrities and has attracted an annual turnout of around 150,000 people. Some of the top headliners who performed at Openair Frauenfeld include Jay-Z, Eminem, Kanye West, Macklemore, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Kendrick Lamar, A$AP Rocky, Travis Scott, Cardi B, Wiz Khalifa, J. Cole, Cypress Hill and others.
Oomph! is a German Neue Deutsche Härte band from Wolfsburg, formed in 1989. The band pioneered the Neue Deutsche Härte movement. Their work contains lyrics in both English and German, with a shift towards German exclusively on recent albums.
Das Fest is one of the biggest open-air concerts in Germany, which has taken place in Karlsruhe since 1985 and is organized by Karlsruhe Event GmbH. After the first few years of existence, its date was set for the last weekend before the summer holidays in Baden-Württemberg, which starts at the end of July. The festival has gained national popularity with its concerts, making up the main part of the event.
