Luke Whitehouse (born 2nd July 2002) [2] is a British gymnast. He is an English, [3] British [4] and double European Floor Champion. He won gold for the floor exercise and was part of the Great Britain team who won Team bronze at the 2023 European Artistic Gymnastics Championships. [5] [6] [7] [8]

Contents

Junior

As a Junior, Whitehouse represented Team GB at the 2019 European Youth Olympic Festival in Baku, Azerbaijan. [9] He also competed at the inaugural 2019 Junior World Championships in Gyor, Hungary.

Senior

In June 2021 at the FIG World Challenge Cup, Osijek, Croatia in qualifying for the Floor final he became the first British gymnast to complete a triple back somersault in competition. [10] [11]

At the English Championships in 2023 was gold medallist on Parallel Bars and on Floor, [3] defending his title won in 2022. [12] He won silver on vault [3] following a bronze on the apparatus in 2022. [12] In 2022, he won the bronze in the all around. [13]

He won bronze on Floor at the FIG World Cup, Doha-Qatar March, 2023 [14] and at the FIG.Paris Challenge Cup September, 2023. In April 2023 he became European champion on floor winning gold at the European Championships in Antalya, Turkey [15] alongside the team bronze medal. [16] He was selected as reserve for the World Championships in Antwerp 2023 Team GB.

In April 2024 at the gymnastics world cup in Doha Luke took the silver medal [17] followed by retaining his floor European champion status a week later winning gold for a second year in a row after Max Whitlock dropping out of the competition last minute due to injury allowing Luke to defend his title, becoming the first male GBR gymnast to retain an European title. [18]

In June 2024 Whitehouse was selected to represent Great Britain at the 2024 Summer Olympics alongside Jake Jarman, Harry Hepworth, Joe Fraser, and Max Whitlock. [19]

He trained at Southport YMCA and was coached by Jeff Brookes and Andrei Popov. He was part of the first British men's team to win a medal at a World Championships in 2015.

İbrahim Çolak is a Turkish artistic gymnast who is primarily a rings specialist. He is the 2019 World champion on the rings and the first Turkish gymnast to medal at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. He also became Turkey's first European champion in artistic gymnastics when he won gold on the rings at the 2020 European Championships. He is also the 2018 European silver medalist on the rings and the 2020 European silver medalist with the Turkish team. He is the 2022 Mediterranean Games champion on the rings and in the team event. He won the bronze medal at the 2015 European Games and the silver medal at the 2013 Mediterranean Games on the rings. He represented Turkey at the 2020 Summer Olympics where he finished fifth in the rings final.

Marios Georgiou is a Cypriot artistic gymnast. He is the 2024 European all-around champion, and the 2022 European horizontal bar champion and the first gymnast from Cyprus to win a European title, and a major all-around title. He is the 2019 European Championships all-around bronze medalist which made him the first gymnast from Cyprus to win a European medal. He is the 2019 European Games parallel bars silver medalist. At the 2018 Commonwealth Games, he won the gold medals in the floor exercise and parallel bars and the bronze medal in the all-around, and he won four bronze medals at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. He is the 2018 Mediterranean Games all-around and horizontal bar champion and the 2022 Mediterranean Games horizontal bar champion. He competed at the 2016 and 2020 Olympic Games.

Alice Nicole Kinsella is an English artistic gymnast and member of the British national gymnastics team. She represented Great Britain at the 2020 Summer Olympics and won a bronze medal in the team event, and was part of the Great Britain team that achieved the highest positions ever achieved in the same event at the 2022 World Championships (silver) and the 2023 European Championships (gold). Kinsella won a Commonwealth Games team title as part of England's gold-winning team all-around squad of 2022.

Joe Fraser is an English artistic gymnast. He is the 2022 European all-around and parallel bars champion and the 2019 world champion on the parallel bars. He is the first British gymnast to ever win gold in these events, and the third British world champion. As a member of the British Senior team since 2017, he has also won team gold and silver, and bronze on the pommel horse, in the European Artistic Gymnastic Championships. Representing England in the 2022 Commonwealth Games, Fraser won three gold medals in the team, pommel horse and parallel bars events.

Ryu Sung-hyun is a South Korean artistic gymnast. He is the 2019 Junior World champion on the floor exercise. He represented South Korea at the 2020 Summer Olympics and placed fourth in the floor exercise final. He won two bronze medals at the 2021 Summer World University Games. He has qualified to compete at the 2024 Summer Olympics through the 2024 FIG World Cup series.

Illia Yuriiovych Kovtun is a Ukrainian artistic gymnast who competed at the 2020 Olympic Games. He is the 2023 World all-around silver medalist and 2021 World all-around bronze medalist. At the European Championships he is the 2023 European champion on parallel bars as well as a one-time silver medalist and a three-time bronze medalist. Additionally he is a two-time junior world championships medalist.

Audrys Nin Reyes is a Dominican artistic gymnast. He is the 2019 and 2023 Pan American Games vault champion. He was the first Dominican gymnast to win a gold medal at the Pan American Games. He was also the first Dominican gymnast to win a gold medal at an FIG World Cup event when he won the vault title at the 2017 Osijek World Challenge Cup. He is the 2017 Pan American vault and horizontal bar champion and the 2017 Universiade vault champion. He is also the 2018 and 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games vault champion. He has qualified to represent the Dominican Republic at the 2024 Summer Olympics, the first male gymnast from his country to do so.

Matvei Sergeyevich Petrov is a Russian-born Albanian artistic gymnast. He is the 2020 European Champion on the pommel horse, and he is Albania's first European medalist. He represented Albania at the 2020 Summer Olympics and was the first reserve for the pommel horse final after finishing tenth in the qualification round.

Krisztofer Mészáros is a Hungarian artistic gymnast. At the 2022 European Championships, he won the silver medal on floor exercise and was Hungary's first European silver medalist on floor exercise. He won a bronze medal with the Hungarian team at the 2020 European Championships. He will represent Hungary at the 2024 Summer Olympics.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Jake Jarman</span> British artistic gymnast

Jake Jarman is an elite English artistic gymnast from Peterborough, competing internationally for Great Britain, and for England at the Commonwealth Games. In his first major senior championships, the 2022 Commonwealth Games, Jarman won the gold medal in the team all-around, individual all-around, floor exercise and vault, the first English male gymnast to win four gold medals at a single Games. A few weeks later in Munich, representing Great Britain, Jarman became European champion in the team and vault events, becoming the first British male to win European gold on vault. In 2023, Jarman added vault gold at the 2023 World Championships, the first Briton to win world gold on the apparatus, the fourth male British world champion, and sixth British world champion.
