Lynch Davidson was an American politician who served as the 26th lieutenant governor of Texas from 1921 to 1923. [1]
Davidson was born on January 3,1873,in Cotile Landing,Louisiana,now Boyce,Louisiana,to Lieutenant William Neal Davidson and Laura Cecelia Lynch,a native of Washington County,Texas whose father Joseph Penn Lynch was a veteran of the Texas Revolution,and served primarily during the Battle of San Jacinto. [2] Davidson moved to Groesbeck,Texas as in infant. He remained in Groesbeck until 1887,when he finished high school at age 15 and moved to Houston. Upon his move,he immediately set out to become a lumberman in order to support his widowed mother. He was able to secure a job at a sawmill in Groveton. After 5 years of selling lumber in Mexico,he opened his own business in Laredo at the age of 23. He was married to Katie Calvert in June 1897,and they had three daughters,Marion,Lois,and Katie. [3] [4] He died on January 27,1952,in Houston,and was buried in Hollywood Cemetery (also in Houston).

The San Jacinto Monument is a 567.31-foot-high (172.92-meter) column located on the Houston Ship Channel in unincorporated Harris County,Texas,about 16 miles due east of downtown Houston. The Art Deco monument is topped with a 220-ton star that commemorates the site of the Battle of San Jacinto,the decisive battle of the Texas Revolution. The monument,constructed between 1936 and 1939 and dedicated on April 21,1939,is the world's tallest masonry column and is part of the San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site. By comparison,the Washington Monument is 554.612 feet (169.046 m) tall,which is the tallest stone monument in the world. The column is an octagonal shaft topped with a 34-foot (10 m) Lone Star –the symbol of Texas. Visitors can take an elevator to the monument's observation deck for a view of Houston and the San Jacinto battlefield.
Rienzi Melville Johnston was an American journalist and politician. He edited the Houston Post from 1885 to 1919,and served a 29-day term in the United States Senate in January 1913 after the resignation of Joseph Weldon Bailey. His term remains the fifth shortest in Senate history. Johnston was a member of the Texas Senate from 1917 to 1920,and also its President pro tempore from 1918.

William Pettus Hobby Jr. is an American Democratic politician who served a record eighteen years as the 37th Lieutenant Governor of Texas. William Gordon Cooke was a New Orleans druggist from Virginia,who volunteered for service in the Texas Revolution;fighting at Béxar and San Jacinto,he rose to the rank of major in the Texian Army. In the Republic he held a number of military and civilian appointments;as commissioner to the Comanches he participated in the Council House Fight,and as colonel of the First Texas Infantry he became the last commanding officer of the Regular Texas Army. After its disbandment,Cooke participated in the Santa Fe Expedition and sat imprisoned in Mexico City. Back in Texas,he fought the Mexicans at Arroyo Hondo,and in the naval battles of Campeche. The last Secretary of war of the Republic,he was also the State of Texas' first Adjutant general.
The Twin Sisters are a pair of cannons used by Texas Military Forces during the Texas Revolution. They are among the most famous artillery in Texas military history with the "Come and Take It" cannon starting the revolution at the Battle of Gonzales and the Twin Sisters winning it at the Battle of San Jacinto. The Twin Sisters were also potentially used during the Mexican Invasions of 1842 and American Civil War.
