The Dhaka Metro Rail,or simply the Dhaka Metro,is a mass rapid transit system serving Dhaka,the capital and largest city of Bangladesh. It is operated by the Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL). Together with the under construction Dhaka BRT,proposed Dhaka Subway and Dhaka suburban circular rail,it is expected to reduce traffic congestion in the city. The metro rail network has five planned lines which are the MRT Line 6,the only operational line,MRT Line 1 and MRT Line 5,which are under construction,and MRT Line 2 and MRT Line 4,which are in the planning stages. It is part of the Strategic Transport Plan outlined by the Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA).

The MRT Line 6 is a rapid transit line of the Dhaka Metro Rail. Despite its number,it is Bangladesh's first rapid transit line and has been in service since 2022. The line is entirely elevated and currently has 16 stations operational in service between Uttara North and Motijheel.
Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited,commonly known as DMTCL,is a government-owned company responsible for operating Dhaka Metro Rail,a mass rapid transit system in Dhaka and adjoining areas. The company was established on 3 June 2013 under the Companies Act 1994,a law that governs companies in Bangladesh. Out of 5 metro lines planned by the DMTCL,the MRT Line-6 was inaugurated on 28 December 2022 by once Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The MRT Line 1 is Dhaka Metro Rail's rapid transit line under construction. It will be the second of the Dhaka Metro Rail system and will be operated by Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL). Its construction started in February 2023. It is scheduled to open in December 2026.
Dhaka University,also sometimes unofficially and colloquially referred as TSC station,is an elevated metro station on MRT Line 6 of the Dhaka Metro Rail. This station is in the University of Dhaka campus,next to the Teacher-Student Centre and close to the Curzon Hall,located in Shahbagh Thana. The station commenced service on 13 December 2023.
The Southern Route is one of the branches of the approved MRT Line 5 line of Dhaka Metro Rail;the other one being the Northern Route. This route is currently in its planning stages. The construction of the Southern Route could begin in 2024 and is scheduled to commence operation by 2030.
The Northern Route is one of the branches of the approved MRT Line 5 of Dhaka Metro Rail;the other one being the Southern Route. The construction of the Northern Route started in 4 November 2023 and is scheduled to commence operation by 2028.
Diabari Depot,officially Uttara Depot,is a railway depot of the Dhaka Metro Rail's MRT Line 6,located before Uttara North station in northern Dhaka. It is the first depot on the metro lines of Dhaka,having been built in 2022,when the MRT Line 6 was under construction.
The MRT Line 2 is Dhaka's proposed rapid transit line. Despite the number,it will be the fifth of the Dhaka Metro Rail system and will be operated by Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL). It is scheduled to open in 2030.
ABM Amin Ullah Nuri is a Bangladeshi civil servant and former Secretary of the Road Transport and Highways Division. He is a former chairman of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha.
Artist Quamrul Hassan Road is a street in Dhaka,Bangladesh,that was built for the construction of the Mirpur DOHS-to-Uttara section of Dhaka Metro Rail's MRT Line 6. Before the line's construction,the road was a narrow path,which in 2016 was planned to be converted into a street because,due to its narrowness,the line's viaduct could not be built on it. The road runs from the Mirpur Cantonment area to Sector 18 of Uttara and a roundabout at Diabari.
Md. Nazrul Islam is an former officer of the Bangladesh Civil Service who served as the Secretary of the Road Transport and Highways Division.
