MAD Team is a Taiwanese esports organization founded on 28 November 2017 by Hong Kong actor Shawn Yue. [1] [2] [3] The organization formerly had a League of Legends team competing in the League of Legends Master Series (LMS), the top level of professional League of Legends in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. [4]
On 29 November 2017, it was announced that the roster and Garena Challenger Series (GCS) spot of ahq White had been acquired by MAD Team. [1] MAD Team placed sixth in the 2018 GCS Spring Series and fifth in the 2018 GCS Summer Series. After winning the 2019 GCS Spring Series, MAD Team qualified for the 2019 Arena of Valor World Cup as Taiwan's representative.
On 28 November 2017, it was announced that the LMS spot of ahq Fighter had been acquired and rebranded to MAD Team. [1] [2] [3] Top laners Wu "Liang" Liang-Te and Tsai "Rock" Chung-Ting, junglers Lien "Benny" Hsiu-Chi and Hsiao "Kongyue" Jen-Tso, and mid laner Chen "Uniboy" Chang-Chu joined from ahq Fighter, while Huang "Breeze" Chien-Yuan and Ke "K" Kai-Sheng were acquired from Wayi Spider. MAD Team debuted in the 2018 LMS Spring Split and placed fourth in the regular season with a 6–8 record, earning them a spot in playoffs, where they defeated Machi Esports 3–1 in the first round, but lost to 0–3 G-Rex in the second. [4] MAD Team was one of four teams that represented the LMS at Rift Rivals 2018 LCK-LPL-LMS, the others being the Flash Wolves, G-Rex, and Machi Esports. The team lost all their matches in the tournament.
MAD Team placed second in the 2018 LMS Summer regular season with a 10–4 record. The team earned the second seed in playoffs, winning their first series 3–0 against J Team, but losing 0–3 to the Flash Wolves in the finals. [4] MAD Team accrued the most championship points throughout the 2018 LMS season, allowing them to qualify for the main event of the 2018 World Championship as the league's second seed. [5] [6]
For the 2018 World Championship's main event, MAD Team was drafted into Group C, along with KT Rolster, EDward Gaming, and Team Liquid. The team failed to win a single game and ended the group stage with a 0–6 record. [7] [8]

The League of Legends Master Series (LMS) was a professional League of Legends league with teams from Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau from 2015 to 2019. Eight teams competed over two seasons to qualify for the League of Legends World Championship. In September 2019, Riot announced that the LMS would merge with the League of Legends SEA Tour (LST) to create a new professional league for all Garena-affiliated regions except Vietnam, the Pacific Championship Series (PCS).

The 2015 League of Legends World Championship was an esports tournament for the multiplayer online battle arena video game League of Legends. It was the fifth iteration of the League of Legends World Championship, an annual international tournament organized by the game's developer, Riot Games. It was held from October 1 to 31 in various cities across Europe: the group stages in Le Dock Pullman, in Paris, France; the quarterfinals at the Wembley Arena in London, England, United Kingdom; the semifinals in the Brussels Expo in Brussels, Belgium; and the finals at Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin, Germany. The 16 teams qualified by either winning a professional league or a regional qualifying tournament. There was a 16 team round-robin group stage followed by an 8 team single elimination bracket. The games were officially streamed on Twitch, YouTube and Azubu in several languages. The BBC also streamed the tournament online on BBC Three but for United Kingdom IP addresses only. A peak of around 14 million concurrent viewers watched the finals, according to official sources.
ahq eSports Club is a Taiwanese professional esports organization with teams competing in League of Legends, Arena of Valor, A.V.A, and Heroes of the Storm. Their League of Legends team was formed in September 2012 and previously competed in the Pacific Championship Series, the successor to the League of Legends Masters Series. After winning the 2015 LMS Summer Playoffs, AHQ qualified for the 2015 World Championship, where they placed fifth to eighth after losing to SKT T1 in the quarterfinals.
Hanwha Life Esports (HLE) is a South Korean esports organization based in Seoul, owned by Hanwha Life Insurance. It has teams competing in League of Legends and Kart Rider, with the former competing in the LCK, South Korea's top level professional league for the game.
The Flash Wolves are a Taiwanese esports organization with players competing in Arena of Valor and Hearthstone. They formerly had teams competing in League of Legends, Overwatch, Special Force II, StarCraft II, and World of Tanks.
Song Kyung-ho, better known by his in-game name Smeb, is a retired South Korean professional League of Legends player who played as the top laner for KT Rolster of the LCK before retiring.
Royal Never Give Up (RNG) is a Chinese esports organization whose League of Legends team competes in the League of Legends Pro League. It was established in May 2015. RNG won the 2016 LPL Spring Playoffs, 2018 LPL Spring Playoffs and 2018 LPL Summer Playoffs. It is also the champion of 2018 and 2021 Mid-Season Invitational. Its sister team is Royal Club. Royal Never Give Up also has a Dota 2 team, which played in The International 2019.
Huang Yi-tang, better known by his in-game name Maple, is a Taiwanese professional League of Legends player who is the mid laner for PSG Talon. Huang found success domestically and internationally during his time as a member of the Flash Wolves, winning several LMS titles and topping many international events. He has long been considered by many analysts and other professional players as one of the most mechanically skillful players from Taiwan. Huang also played for LPL teams Suning and LNG Esports.
Hung Hau-hsuan, better known as Karsa, is a Taiwanese professional League of Legends player for Victory Five. He is known for his strategic jungle play and found success domestically and internationally during his time as a member of the Flash Wolves, winning several LMS titles and topping many international events. Hung has long been considered by many analysts and other professional players as one of the most mechanically skillful players from Taiwan.
J Team is a Taiwanese professional esports organization owned by JY Entertainment with players competing in League of Legends and StarCraft II. Their League of Legends team participates in the Pacific Championship Series, the highest level of professional League of Legends in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, and Southeast Asia. J Team was founded in April 2016 by Jay Chou after he purchased the LMS spot of the League of Legends team Taipei Assassins (TPA) from Garena, which had won the Season 2 World Championship in 2012.
Machi Esports is a professional esports organization founded by Taiwanese hip hop group Machi. It has a League of Legends division and formerly had an Overwatch team. Machi's League of Legends division previously had a team competing in the LMS and an academy team competing in the ECS named MachiX. Machi sold its spot in the LMS to Alpha Esports in late 2018, and although it still maintains the MachiX roster, the ECS is no longer in operation.
Hong Kong Attitude (HKA) is a professional esports organisation based in Hong Kong. Its parent company is Hong Kong Esports, and all of its teams were previously known by that name from October 2014 to 16 May 2017.
G-Rex, officially G-Rex Gaming and previously Raise Gaming, was a professional esports organisation based in Hong Kong. Its parent company was Emperor Esports Stars, a subsidiary of Emperor Entertainment Group. It had a League of Legends team competing in the LMS, the highest level of professional League of Legends in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. The team qualified for the 2018 World Championship after winning that year's LMS Regional Finals.
Griffin is a South Korean esports organization owned by esports entertainment company STILL8. It has a team competing in PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds and previously had teams competing in League of Legends and Overwatch. Griffin's League of Legends team competed in the League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK), the top level of professional League of Legends in South Korea.
The Pacific Championship Series (PCS) is a professional esports league for League of Legends players competing in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau and Southeast Asia. Its creation was officially announced by Riot Games on 19 December 2019, after Garena, which ran the League of Legends Master Series (LMS) and League of Legends SEA Tour (LST), announced in September that it was planning to merge the two leagues. The PCS has ten teams: four from Taiwan, two from Hong Kong, and four from Southeast Asia.
Berjaya Dragons was a Malaysian esports organisation which had teams competing in League of Legends and League of Legends: Wild Rift. Its League of Legends team competed in the Pacific Championship Series (PCS), the top-level league for the game in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, and Southeast Asia.
