Super Series (2023) was a professional wrestling supercard event produced by Major League Wrestling (MLW), in conjunction with Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA) and Promociones EMW (EMW). It took place on February 10, 2023, at Auditorio Fausto Gutierrez Moreno in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico.

It was the third event in the MLW Super Series chronology, following the 2022 event in Georgia, and served as a television taping for the new season of MLW Fusion that premiered on May 25, 2023. [1] [2] [3]

Production

Background

On March 13, 2020, Major League Wrestling (MLW) held their inaugural Super Series event, titled AAA vs. MLW Super Series. [4] [5] The event was held in collaboration with the Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA) and Promociones EMW (EMW) promotions at Auditorio Fausto Gutierrez Moreno in Tijuana. [4] [5] Over two years later, on September 18, 2022, a second Super Series event was held at the Space Event Center in Norcross, Georgia. [6] [7] The event was held in collaboration with AAA and the Japan-based Dragon Gate group. [8] [9]

On February 10, 2023, MLW held a third Super Series event, in collaboration with AAA and EMW, with the event returning to Tijuana's Auditorio Fausto Gutierrez Moreno. [10] [11]

Storylines

Super Series featured eight professional wrestling matches that featured wrestlers involved in scripted feuds. The wrestlers portrayed either heels (referred to as rudos in Mexico, those that play the part of the "bad guys"), faces (técnicos in Mexico, the "good guy" characters), or less distinguishable characters ("tweeners") as they performed. The Arena Naucalpan 15th Anniversary Show was a major annual professional wrestling event produced and scripted by Promociones Moreno in conjunction with the professional wrestling promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL), which took place on December 16, 1992 in Arena Naucalpan, Naucalpan, State of Mexico, Mexico. As the name implies the show celebrated the 15th Anniversary of the construction of Arena Naucalpan, Promociones Morenos main venue, in 1977. In 1996 Promociones Moreno became International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG), maintaining the annual Arena Naucalpan Anniversary tradition. The show became IWRG's longest-running show and is the fourth oldest, still held annual show in professional wrestling.

The IWRG 8th Anniversary Show was a major lucha libre event produced and scripted by the Mexican International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG) professional wrestling promotion on January 1, 2004. As the name indicates the event commemorates the anniversary of IWRG, which was founded on January 1, 1996.

Emmanuel Roman Morales, better known by his ring name El Hijo del Vikingo, is a Mexican luchador. He works for Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA), where he is the current AAA Mega Champion in his first reign. He also makes appearances for All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

Black Danger is a masked Mexican professional wrestler. He is primarily known for working for promotions such as The Crash Lucha Libre, Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide and Major League Wrestling where he portrays a rudo wrestling character. He previously worked under the ring names Mega Danger and Espectro . Black Danger is a former holder of The Crash Junior Championship and is also a member of La Rebelión Amarilla. His real name is not a matter of public record, as is often the case with masked wrestlers in Mexico, where their private lives are kept a secret from the wrestling fans.

The Crash X Aniversario, also known as The Crash Decimo Aniversario, was a professional wrestling supercard event, scripted and produced by the Mexican lucha libre promotion The Crash Lucha Libre, which took place on November 5, 2021 at Auditorio Fausto Gutierrez in The Crash's home town of Tijuana, Baja California. It was the fifth event under The Crash Aniversario chronology. The event commemorated the creation of The Crash Lucha Libre in November 2011 and is their biggest show of the year.

MLW Super Series is a professional wrestling supercard event promoted by the American promotion Major League Wrestling (MLW). Since its inception in 2020, it is held in conjunction with Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA), Promociones EMW (EMW), and Dragon Gate and features direct competition between wrestlers from these promotions.
