Madison High School is a three-year public secondary school in Rexburg, Idaho, the county seat of Madison County. [3] It is the only traditional high school in the Madison School District #321, which includes Rexburg and the majority of the county. The school colors are red, white, and gray, and the mascot is a bobcat.

Athletics

Madison competes in athletics in IHSAA Class 5A with the largest schools in the state. It is a member of the High Country Conference (5A) with Rigby, Thunder Ridge, and Highland of Pocatello.

With one of the smaller enrollments in 5A, Madison has moved up or down in classification several times over the decades. The Bobcats have won a number of state championships in both boys and girls sports. [5]

The 2012 football team went undefeated (12–0) to win its seventh state football title, its first in Class 5A, defeating Coeur d'Alene High School 37–30 at Holt Arena in Pocatello, Idaho. [6] [7]

Rivals

Madison's traditional rival is Rigby, although Rigby has spent many years in a different conference than Madison. However, in 2016 Rigby joined Madison in the 5A conference. Another rival is the Highland Rams from Pocatello, Idaho.

Bonneville High School is a four-year public secondary school near Idaho Falls, Idaho. Northeast of the city, it opened in 1951 and is the original high school of the Bonneville Joint School District #93, which consolidated ten smaller districts east of Idaho Falls. The original building for high school was turned into a junior high in 1977 when the current Bonneville High School was built. A second traditional high school in the district opened in 1992, Hillcrest in Ammon. In 2018 a third high school was opened, Thunder Ridge. The school colors are green and gold and the mascot is a bee. Current enrollment is approximately 1,400. In 1950 the vote was put forward to bring together 10 little schools, some of them were Iona, Lincoln, Ammon, and Ucon. It passed however there was not a school for them to attend. The school that had the largest building at the time was Ammon so the high school students would attend there until a building could be built. The first class attended 1951 - 1952. As with some of the other new schools, the first graduating class could nominate the colors and mascot. The colors of a favorite football team was nominated, Green Bay Packers. In 1957 the "new" high school was built. It is the current Rocky Mountain Middle School. The students outgrew the high school and did split sessions in the 1970s while a new high school was being built next door. The first class to graduate from the current building was 1978.

Lake City High School, sometimes referred to as Lake City or LCHS, is a four-year public secondary school in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. The second high school in the city, LCHS opened in 1994 and draws from the southern and western areas of the Coeur d'Alene school district. The school's colors are navy blue, silver, and teal, and its mascot is the Timberwolf, which students commonly refer to as T-Wizzy.
