Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (operating as Maha Metro) is 50:50 Joint Venture company of Government of India & Government of Maharashtra headquartered in Nagpur, India. [2]

Contents

The existing Nagpur Metro Rail Corporation Limited (NMRCL) was reconstituted into Maha Metro for implementation of all Maharashtra state metro projects, except the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. [3]

Project will be covered under the legal framework of the Metro Railways (Construction of Works) Act, 1978; the Metro Railways (Operation and Maintenance) Act, 2002; and the Railways Act, 1989, as amended from time to time.

Maha Metro is responsible for all the metro rail projects undergoing in Maharashtra except the Mumbai Metropolitan Area. It is the implementation authority for Nagpur Metro and Pune Metro projects, except lines that will be handled by the PMRDA. [4]

The upcoming Greater Nasik Metro & Thane Metro will be also implemented and operated by Maha Metro. [5]

    Pune Metro is a mass rapid transit system serving the city of Pune, India. The system comprises three lines with a combined length of 54.14 km (33.64 mi), of which 24.12 km (14.99 mi) on two lines are operational as of August 2024. The extended metro line from Ruby Hall Clinic to Ramwadi, including the Bund Garden, Kalyani Nagar and Ramwadi metro stations, covering a distance of 6 km, was inaugurated on 6 March 2024. The 16.59 km (10.31 mi) Purple Line from PCMC Bhavan to Swargate runs on an elevated viaduct between PCMC Bhavan to Range Hills, from where it goes underground. The Aqua Line runs from Vanaz to Ramwadi covering a distance of 14.66 km (9.11 mi) on an elevated viaduct. The 23.33 km (14.50 mi) elevated Line 3 Puneri Metro will run from the Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park in Hinjawadi via Balewadi to Civil Court.     The Navi Mumbai Metro is a rapid transit system in the city of Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. The planning and construction of the Navi Mumbai Metro was overseen by the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO). The system is planned to consist of five rail lines covering a total distance of 106.4 kilometres (66.1 mi), out of which one is operational and the other four are being planned. The foundation stone for the project was laid on 1 May 2011, with a target completion date of 2014. After over 9 years of delays, due to slowdowns in construction caused by lack of labour and adequate funding, along with land acquisition issues, the Line-1 of the metro commenced operations on 17 November 2023.

Phase I of the metro project cost was estimated to cost 8,650 crore but the final project cost incurred was 9,279 crore (US$1.1 billion). In February 2014, the Government of Maharashtra gave approval for the Metro project, while the Government of India's Ministry of Urban Development had given "In Principle" approval for the project. On 20 August 2014, Union Cabinet gave approval for the development of the project, and the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone on 21 August. Construction began on 31 May 2015, with trial run beginning on 30 September 2017.

    The Greater Nashik Metro or Metro NEO is a proposed rapid transit system in the Nashik Metropolitan Region. The system is proposed to reduce traffic congestion as well as provide direct connectivity to Nashik city from its suburbs. The Greater Nashik Metro will connect suburbs of Nashik city like Deolali, Nashik Road, Upnagar, Nashik Airport, Sinnar, Igatpuri, Gangapur Road, Trimbakeshwar, Dindori, Bhagur, Niphad, Adgaon, Ghoti Budruk and Girnare.

    Maharashtra is a state in western India. It is the country's second-most-populous state and third-largest state by area. Maharashtra is bordered by the Arabian Sea on the west, Gujarat and the Union territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli on the northwest, Madhya Pradesh on the north and northeast, Chhattisgarh on the east, Karnataka on the south, Telangana on the southeast and Goa on the southwest.     The Mumbai–Nagpur High-Speed Rail Corridor is a proposed high-speed rail line connecting Maharashtra's two major cities, Mumbai and Nagpur. It will be the second line which links Mumbai.

    Shegaon railway station is railway station located on Nagpur–Bhusawal section of Howrah–Nagpur–Mumbai line of Indian Railways. It is located near Panchayat Samiti Office, on North West side of Shegaon city, which is famous for Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj Temple.

    Red Line 9 (extension) of the Mumbai Metro is part of the metro system for the city of Mumbai, India. Metro Line 9 is an extension of the Red Line from Andheri to CSMIA and Dahisar to Mira Road. This line will be unique from the other metro lines because it will run on a double-decker bridge. There will be a flyover on the first deck and the metro will run on the second deck. The flyover will start near the proposed Shivaji Chowk metro station and will end in Bhayander (West) via Mira Bhayander Road. It shall provide interconnectivity among the Western Express Highway, the Western Line, and the Mumbai Metro.

    Wardha–Yavatmal–Nanded line is an under-construction railway project based in Maharashtra, India. The railway line would facilitate the transport between Wardha to Nanded via Yavatmal. The Ministry of Railways, Government of India has given the project a "special project" status. The railway line would operate on a geographical area of 284 kilometers.

    The Orange Line, also known as the North–south corridor, of the Nagpur Metro is a metro route of mass rapid transit system in Nagpur, India. It consists of 20 metro stations from Automotive Square to Metro City with a total distance of 22.293 km. Most of the line is elevated. It is the first line of the Nagpur Metro and was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 7 March 2019, and opened to the public the next day on International Women's Day.

    Nagpur broad-gauge Metro is a commuter rail project planned for the city of Nagpur and extending up to adjacent areas of Wardha, Yavatmal, Narkhed, Ramtek, Bhandara, Amravati, Wadsa and Chhindwara in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, India. This project will be executed by Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited. According to some Government officials first broad gauge metro will run in December 2023 on Nagpur to Yavatmal line via Wardha.And inauguration will be taken place in hand of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

    Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation is a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) of Government of Maharashtra(GOM) and Ministry of Railways (MOR). The authorized share capital of MRIDC is Rs 100 Cr. with contribution of Rs. 50 Cr by Govt. of Maharashtra and Rs. 50 Cr. by Ministry of Railways. It is headquartered at Nariman Point, Mumbai and have offices across Maharashtra in Nagpur, Pune, and Nashik. The corporation is involved in implementation of various Railway projects such as construction of ROB in lieu of level crossings, construction of new Railway Line and expansion of existing Railway Lines in the territory of Maharashtra. It started functioning from July 2018.
