Majornas IK is a Swedish sport club from Gothenburg founded in 1916. [1] The club is most famous for its handball team, who have been Swedish champions seven times (1935, 1940, 1942, 1943, 1944, 1945 and 1946). [2] Until 1964 they had played all seasons excluding one in the top flight, but have not played there since. [3] They currently play in Division 4, the 6th level. [4]
When the club started, it was mainly concentrated on association football, but the football section was discontinued in 2006 because of a lack of players. [5] In 1928, the club took part in the creation of the Gothenburg district federation for bandy. [6]
Örgryte Idrottssällskap, commonly referred to as Örgryte IS, Örgryte or ÖIS or Öis, is a Swedish sports club based in Gothenburg. It consists of four departments, namely bowling, football, athletics and wrestling. However, the club is best known for its football department. The club was founded in 1887 which makes it the oldest active sports club in the country.

The club was also operating bandy teams, both women's and men's, winning the Swedish men's championship in bandy once, in 1927. In women's bandy they were far more successful, winning eight times, the last time in 1984.

Waggeryds IK is a sports club in Vaggeryd, Sweden, established in April 1920. The club runs bandy and association football teams. Anton Lindbergh was chairman for the first 38 years of the club. The men's bandy team played in the Swedish top division in 1942. and 1963–1964. and played in the qualifying rounds for the Swedish top division in 1970.
The 1934–35 Svenska mästerskapet was the fourth staging of the Svenska mästerskapet, a tournament held to determine the Swedish Champions of men's handball. Teams qualified by winning their respective District Championships. 17 teams competed in the tournament. Redbergslids IK were the defending champions, but failed to qualify by losing to Göteborgs IK in the District Championship of Gothenburg. Majornas IK won the title, defeating Stockholms-Flottans IF in the final. The final was played on 30 March in Skeppsholmshallen in Stockholm, and was watched by 1,182 spectators.
The 1939–40 Svenska mästerskapet was the ninth season of Svenska mästerskapet, a tournament held to determine the Swedish Champions of men's handball. Teams qualified by winning their respective District Championships. 15 teams competed in the tournament. Upsala Studenters IF were the defending champions, but failed to win the District Championship of Uppland and did not qualify. Majornas IK won their second title, defeating IFK Karlskrona in the final. The final was originally to be played on 15 April, but was rescheduled two days before that date due to fear for bombing. The final was eventually played on 20 October in Mässhallen in Gothenburg, and was watched by 2,264 spectators.
The 1941–42 Svenska mästerskapet was the 11th season of Svenska mästerskapet, a tournament held to determine the Swedish Champions of men's handball. Teams qualified by winning their respective District Championships. 19 teams competed in the tournament. IFK Kristianstad were the defending champions, but were eliminated by IFK Karlskrona in the quarterfinals. Majornas IK won their third title, defeating Stockholms-Flottans IF in the final. The final was played on 12 April in Mässhallen in Gothenburg, and was watched by 2,319 spectators.

Teams qualified by winning their respective District Championships. 19 teams competed in the tournament. Majornas IK were the defending champions, and won their fourth title, defeating Västerås HF in the final. The final was played on 18 April in Mässhallen in Gothenburg, and was watched by 1,900 spectators.
The 1944–45 Svenska mästerskapet was the 14th season of Svenska mästerskapet, a tournament held to determine the Swedish Champions of men's handball. Teams qualified by winning their respective District Championships. 16 teams competed in the tournament. Majornas IK were the three-time defending champions, and won their sixth title, defeating IFK Karlskrona in the final. The final was played on 15 April in Mässhallen in Gothenburg, and was watched by 3,254 spectators.
The 1945–46 Svenska mästerskapet was the 15th season of Svenska mästerskapet, a tournament held to determine the Swedish Champions of men's handball. Teams qualified by winning their respective District Championships. 22 teams competed in the tournament. Majornas IK were the four-time defending champions, and won their seventh title, defeating Upsala IF in the final. The final was played on 31 March in Mässhallen in Gothenburg, and was watched by 1,990 spectators.
The 1946–47 Svenska mästerskapet was the 16th season of Svenska mästerskapet, a tournament held to determine the Swedish Champions of men's handball. The qualification criteria for the tournament was changed for this season. All Allsvenskan teams and all District Champions qualified, along with invited teams from Division II. 32 teams competed in the tournament. Majornas IK were the five-time defending champions, but were eliminated by Sandvikens IF in the Second Round. Redbergslids IK won their third title, defeating cross-town rivals IK Heim in the final. The semifinals and final were played on 15–16 March in Mässhallen in Gothenburg. The final was watched by 4,198 spectators.
Västerås HF was a Swedish handball club based in Västerås. The club was founded in 1934. In 1942–43, the club made its debut in both the top division, Allsvenskan, and Svenska mästerskapet (SM), the tournament held to determine the Swedish champions. They finished fifth in the league, and reached the SM final, where they were defeated by Majornas IK. In the following season they reached the semifinals in SM, but were again defeated by Majornas IK. They reached the SM quarterfinals in 1945–46, 1946–47 and 1947–48. In 1947–48 they were also relegated from the top division and never returned. They reached the semifinals in SM in 1949–50, where they lost against Örebro SK. Västerås HF reached the SM quarterfinals in 1950–51 and 1951–52, after which the tournament was discontinued and the Swedish champions were determined by the league.
