HK Drott Halmstad is a handball club, based in Halmstad, Sweden. The club has won the Swedish Championship eleven times, last in 2013. Together with Redbergslids IK, HK Drott have dominated Swedish handball between 1984 and 2003. This club has had many famous players, among them Magnus Andersson, Ola Lindgren, Bengt Johansson and Göran Bengtsson.
IFK Malmö Handboll is the handball department of the sports club IFK Malmö. The club's colours are yellow and white. The handball department was founded in 1933. They made their debut in the top division, at the time known as Allsvenskan, in 1942–43, but were relegated after one season. They returned to Allsvenskan in 1945–46, but were relegated again. They were promoted back to Allsvenskan in 1949 and lasted in the league for two seasons before once again being relegated. IFK Malmö returned to Allsvenskan for the 1953–54 season, finishing fourth in the league that season. They finished second in the league in 1956–57, making them Swedish Championship silver medallists. In the following two seasons they finished fourth and third, before being relegated in 1960. IFK Malmö were promoted to Allsvenskan again in 1969 and finished fifth, but were relegated in the following season. They returned to Allsvenskan after one season and reached the play-offs, which had been introduced to determine the Swedish champions, in 1972–73. They were eliminated by IF Saab in the semi-finals. IFK Malmö won the regular season in the following season, but lost against SoIK Hellas in the semi-finals. Two years later they again reached the playoffs, but were once again defeated in the semi-finals. They were relegated in 1976–77. They returned to the top division in 1988–89 and 2003–04, but were immediately relegated both times. IFK Malmö were promoted from the second division in 2007, but after that season the senior team merged with Malmö HP to form a new club named HK Malmö. IFK Malmö has since started a new senior team which in 2018–19 plays in Division 4, the sixth level.
Djurgårdens IF Bandy is the bandy section of Swedish sports club Djurgårdens IF, located in Stockholm.
Lennarth Ebbinge is a Swedish former handball player and coach, who played as a right wingman. He made his senior debut at second-tier team Näsby IF. In 1976 he signed for cross-town rivals IFK Kristianstad. In his first season with the club, he was the top goalscorer of Allsvenskan. Ebbinge, Bo Ahlberg and Lars-Göran Jönsson were known as the "Wild West line", as a result of often shooting at the first opportunity. In 1979 he joined IK Heim, winning the Swedish championship with the club in 1981–82 and 1982–83. In 1984, Ebbinge joined GF Kroppskultur, where he played for a single season. He played for Spanish club Maritim Puerto Cruz from 1985 to 1989. In 1989 he returned to Kristianstad, playing for the club for a single season and helping them to reach promotion back to the top division. In 1990 he returned to Näsby IF where he finished his career.
Idrottsföreningen Kamraterna Kristianstad, or IFK Kristianstad, is a Swedish professional handball club based in Kristianstad. They play in Handbollsligan, the top level of Swedish men's handball. The club was founded in 1899 as a multi-sport club. The handball team made its debut in 1925 and has been the only section of the club since 2000. The club plays its home matches at Kristianstad Arena.
SoIK Hellas is a sports club in Stockholm, Sweden, established on 14 May 1899 as Pastorns gossar by Katarina Parish confirmation priest Ernst Klefbeck, before changing name to SoIK Hellas in 1912, also on the initiative of Ernst Klefbeck. Nowadays running bowling, track and field athletics, handball, swimming, orienteering, tennis, and water polo, the club earlier also ran soccer, table tennis, fencing, gymnastics, cross-country skiing, diving, ski orienteering, and squash. The men's water polo team has won Swedish championship titles.
Lugi HF is a professional handball team from Lund, Sweden. Both the men's and women's teams play in the top division in 2021–22, Handbollsligan and Svensk handbollselit respectively.
Ystads IF is a professional handball club from Ystad, Sweden. They play in Handbollsligan. They won the Swedish Championship in 1976, 1992 and 2022.
IFK Karlskrona are a Swedish handball club based in Karlskrona. The club was founded in 1921. They won Allsvenskan in 1944–1945. They reached the final of the Swedish championship, at the time played as a straight knockout tournament, in 1940, 1944 and 1945, but were beaten each time by Majorna. They won Allsvenskan again in 1948–49, but were eliminated in the first round of the Swedish championship by Näsby IF. In 1952, the Swedish championship tournament was discontinued and the Swedish champions title was awarded to the winners of Allsvenskan. The club finished second in Allsvenskan in 1955–56; their fourth Swedish championship silver. They were relegated from Allsvenkan in 1961 and did not return until 1981. In 1983, Karlskrona reached the final of the IHF Cup, where they were defeated by Soviet club ZTR Zaporizhia. They most recently played in the top division, renamed Elitserien, in 1995. They currently play in Division 2, the fourth level.
Karlskrona Handboll was a Swedish handball club based in Karlskrona, founded in 1920. They were the first Swedish champions in 1932. They were founding members of Allsvenskan in 1934–35. They reached the Swedish championship final again in 1936, but lost to Hellas. They were relegated from Allsvenskan in 1939 and have not returned since. Until the 1950s, almost all players of the club were members of the Swedish Navy (Flottan). In 2022 Karlskrona Handboll and HIF Karlskrona became one club, now under the name HF Karlskrona.
Stockholms-Flottans IF were a handball club from Stockholm. They played in the first Swedish championship final in 1932, but lost to Flottans IF Karlskrona. They reached the final again in 1933, but were beaten by Redbergslid. In 1934–35, they were founding members of Allsvenskan. In the same year they reached the Swedish championship final again, but were defeated by Majorna. They were runners-up to the Swedish championship a fourth time in 1942, again losing to Majorna. They played their last season in Allsvenskan in 1944–45.
IS Göta are a Swedish sport club from Helsingborg founded in 1898. The club has had sections in athletics, football, bandy, ice hockey, tennis and handball. The handball team was promoted to Allsvenskan in 1965 and won the league in their debut season, earning the title of Swedish champions. They finished third in the following season, but after that their performances declined and they were relegated in 1970. The handball section was discontinued in 1981.
The 1938–39 Svenska mästerskapet was the eighth season of Svenska mästerskapet, a tournament held to determine the Swedish Champions of men's handball. Teams qualified by winning their respective District Championships. 19 teams competed in the tournament. Västerås IK were the defending champions, but failed to qualify after being eliminated from the District Championship of Västmanland by KFUM Köping. Upsala Studenters IF won the title, defeating Redbergslids IK in the final. The final was played on 2 April in Studenternas tennishall in Uppsala, and was watched by 822 spectators.
The 1940–41 Svenska mästerskapet was the 10th season of Svenska mästerskapet, a tournament held to determine the Swedish Champions of men's handball. Teams qualified by winning their respective District Championships. 16 teams competed in the tournament. Majornas IK were the defending champions, but failed to win the District Championship of Gothenburg and did not qualify. IFK Kristianstad won the title, defeating IFK Uppsala in the final. The final was played on 6 April in Södra kaserns gymnastiksal in Kristianstad, and was watched by 1,299 spectators.
The 1944–45 Svenska mästerskapet was the 14th season of Svenska mästerskapet, a tournament held to determine the Swedish Champions of men's handball. Teams qualified by winning their respective District Championships. 16 teams competed in the tournament. Majornas IK were the three-time defending champions, and won their sixth title, defeating IFK Karlskrona in the final. The final was played on 15 April in Mässhallen in Gothenburg, and was watched by 3,254 spectators.
Västerås IK Handboll was the handball section of Västerås IK, a Swedish sport club based in Västerås. The club made their first appearance in Svenska mästerskapet (SM), a tournament held to determine the Swedish champions, in 1932–33. They were eliminated by Strängnäs in the first round. In 1935–36 they reached the quarterfinals, where they were defeated by SoIK Hellas. In the following season they reached the quarterfinals again, this time losing against Redbergslids IK. In 1937–38, Västerås IK made history by becoming the first team playing outside the top division (Allsvenskan) to win SM. They upset Flottans IF Karlskrona in the semifinal before defeating Djurgårdens IF in the final. The following season, their title defence ended abruptly as they failed to defend their Västmanland district title and thus failed to qualify for SM. In 1940–41 Västerås IK reached the semifinals, where they were eliminated by IFK Kristianstad. In the same season, they were promoted to Allsvenskan for the first time. They finished third in their first season in the top-flight, which remains their best league finish. They reached the quarterfinals in SM, but lost against Stockholms-Flottans IF. The club was relegated in 1943 but returned to the top division two years later. In 1947–48, Västerås IK reached the SM semifinals, but were again defeated by IFK Kristianstad. They were relegated from Allsvenskan in 1950–51, but still reached the semifinals in SM in the same season, losing to AIK. They played in the final season of SM in 1951–52, but were eliminated by Norrköpings AIS in the first round. After that season, the SM tournament was discontinued and the title of Swedish Champions was awarded to the league winners. Västerås IK were promoted back to Allsvenskan in 1955, but were relegated after only one season and never returned to the top division. Västerås IK's handball section does no longer exist.
KFUM Borås is a Swedish multi-sport club based in Borås. The club's basketball team, known as Borås Basket, play in the Swedish top division Basketligan in 2017–18. KFUM is a translation of the English language YMCA.
Västerås HF was a Swedish handball club based in Västerås. The club was founded in 1934. In 1942–43, the club made its debut in both the top division, Allsvenskan, and Svenska mästerskapet (SM), the tournament held to determine the Swedish champions. They finished fifth in the league, and reached the SM final, where they were defeated by Majornas IK. In the following season they reached the semifinals in SM, but were again defeated by Majornas IK. They reached the SM quarterfinals in 1945–46, 1946–47 and 1947–48. In 1947–48 they were also relegated from the top division and never returned. They reached the semifinals in SM in 1949–50, where they lost against Örebro SK. Västerås HF reached the SM quarterfinals in 1950–51 and 1951–52, after which the tournament was discontinued and the Swedish champions were determined by the league.
Önnereds HK is a handball club based in Gothenburg, Sweden. Around 60 teams are organized in the club.
