UoIF Matteuspojkarna is a sports club in Stockholm, Sweden.

History

The club was founded on May 15, 1915. The ice hockey club took part in the Elitserien, then the top level Swedish league, from 1932 to 1935. They then played in its successor league, the Svenska Serien in the 1936-37 and 1942-43 seasons. From 1946 to 1950, and in 1951-52 and 1956-57, Matteuspojkarna played in the top-level Swedish Division I. From 1929 to 1950, the club regularly competed in the single-elimination Swedish Championship. They finished as runner-up in 1948, losing to IK Göta 3–2 in overtime.

The handball department competed in the Swedish men's team handball top division during the 1968–69 season. It currently plays in Division 3.

Between 1918 and 1922, the soccer section participated in the Stockholm League. [1]

IK Göta is a Swedish sports club, which was very successful in several sports such as track and field, handball, bowling, field hockey, ice hockey, soccer and bandy during the 20th century. Their most famous and successful sport was ice hockey. They won the Swedish ice hockey championship nine times, including the inaugural championship in 1922. The club was also operating bandy teams, both women's and men's, winning the Swedish men's championship in bandy once, in 1927. In women's bandy they were far more successful, winning eight times, the last time in 1984.

SoIK Hellas is a sports club in Stockholm, Sweden, established on 14 May 1899 as Pastorns gossar by Katarina Parish confirmation priest Ernst Klefbeck, before changing name to SoIK Hellas in 1912, also on the initiative of Ernst Klefbeck. IF Hallby is a sports club in Jönköping, Sweden, established on 7 April 1929. It originally ran cross-country skiing, soccer, track and field athletics and ice skating, and the club won the 1932 speed skating district team championship. Handball was adopted in 1933 and orienteering in 1934. On 1 June 2001, the club became an alliance club.

The 1936–37 Allsvenskan was the third season of the top division of Swedish handball. Seven teams competed in the league. Stockholms-Flottans IF won the league, but the title of Swedish Champions was awarded to the winner of Svenska mästerskapet. IFK Kristianstad were relegated.

The 1944–45 Allsvenskan was the 11th season of the top division of Swedish handball. 10 teams competed in the league. IFK Karlskrona won the league, but the title of Swedish Champions was awarded to the winner of Svenska mästerskapet. IFK Kristianstad and Stockholms-Flottans IF were relegated.

The 1968–69 Allsvenskan was the 35th season of the top division of Swedish handball. 10 teams competed in the league. HK Drott won the regular season, but SoIK Hellas won the playoffs and claimed their third Swedish title. UoIF Matteuspojkarna and Vikingarnas IF were relegated.

The 1969–70 Allsvenskan was the 36th season of the top division of Swedish handball. 10 teams competed in the league. HK Drott won the regular season, but SoIK Hellas won the playoffs and claimed their fourth Swedish title. UoIF Matteuspojkarna and Vikingarnas IF were relegated.

Västerås IK Handboll was the handball section of Västerås IK, a Swedish sport club based in Västerås. The club made their first appearance in Svenska mästerskapet (SM), a tournament held to determine the Swedish champions, in 1932–33. They were eliminated by Strängnäs in the first round. In 1935–36 they reached the quarterfinals, where they were defeated by SoIK Hellas. In the following season they reached the quarterfinals again, this time losing against Redbergslids IK. In 1937–38, Västerås IK made history by becoming the first team playing outside the top division (Allsvenskan) to win SM. They upset Flottans IF Karlskrona in the semifinal before defeating Djurgårdens IF in the final. The following season, their title defence ended abruptly as they failed to defend their Västmanland district title and thus failed to qualify for SM. In 1940–41 Västerås IK reached the semifinals, where they were eliminated by IFK Kristianstad. In the same season, they were promoted to Allsvenskan for the first time. They finished third in their first season in the top-flight, which remains their best league finish. They reached the quarterfinals in SM, but lost against Stockholms-Flottans IF. The club was relegated in 1943 but returned to the top division two years later. In 1947–48, Västerås IK reached the SM semifinals, but were again defeated by IFK Kristianstad. They were relegated from Allsvenskan in 1950–51, but still reached the semifinals in SM in the same season, losing to AIK. They played in the final season of SM in 1951–52, but were eliminated by Norrköpings AIS in the first round. After that season, the SM tournament was discontinued and the title of Swedish Champions was awarded to the league winners. Västerås IK were promoted back to Allsvenskan in 1955, but were relegated after only one season and never returned to the top division. Västerås IK's handball section does no longer exist.

Västerås HF was a Swedish handball club based in Västerås. The club was founded in 1934. In 1942–43, the club made its debut in both the top division, Allsvenskan, and Svenska mästerskapet (SM), the tournament held to determine the Swedish champions. They finished fifth in the league, and reached the SM final, where they were defeated by Majornas IK. In the following season they reached the semifinals in SM, but were again defeated by Majornas IK. They reached the SM quarterfinals in 1945–46, 1946–47 and 1947–48. In 1947–48 they were also relegated from the top division and never returned. They reached the semifinals in SM in 1949–50, where they lost against Örebro SK. Västerås HF reached the SM quarterfinals in 1950–51 and 1951–52, after which the tournament was discontinued and the Swedish champions were determined by the league.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Rolf Pettersson (ice hockey)</span> Swedish ice hockey player

Rolf "Mackan" Pettersson was a Swedish ice hockey and bandy player, who represented Hammarby IF in both sports. He competed in six Ice Hockey World Championships, winning Sweden's first gold medal in 1953.
