OV Helsingborg HK, is a handball team from Helsingborg, Sweden, which currently plays in Handbollsligan, the top level of Swedish men's handball. The club was founded in 1994 as a merger of Vikingarnas IF (founded in 1941) and HF Olympia (founded in 1963). [1] Vikingarna have been Swedish champions three times (1961, 1967 and 1981). [2] They last played in the top level in 1990. Olympia were less successful, but played two seasons in the top division from 1977 to 1979. OV Helsingborg reached the top division in 2007, 2009 and 2017 but were immediately relegated all three times. [3] In 2019 and 2020 they played in the top division again for two seasons before they were relegated. They once again played the top division 2022/2023, but were relegated.

Helsingborgs Idrottsförening, commonly referred to as Helsingborgs IF or HIF, is a Swedish professional football club located in Helsingborg. They play in the Swedish second tier, Superettan, following relegation in the 2022 Allsvenskan season. Formed in 1907, the club has won five national championship titles and five national cup titles. Helsingborgs IF have also won Allsvenskan on two occasions when the title of Swedish champions was not decided by the outcome of that league.

HK Drott Halmstad is a handball club, based in Halmstad, Sweden. The club has won the Swedish Championship eleven times, last in 2013. Together with Redbergslids IK, HK Drott have dominated Swedish handball between 1984 and 2003. This club has had many famous players, among them Magnus Andersson, Ola Lindgren, Bengt Johansson and Göran Bengtsson.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">IFK Malmö Handboll</span> Swedish handball club

IFK Malmö Handboll is the handball department of the sports club IFK Malmö. The club's colours are yellow and white. The handball department was founded in 1933. They made their debut in the top division, at the time known as Allsvenskan, in 1942–43, but were relegated after one season. They returned to Allsvenskan in 1945–46, but were relegated again. They were promoted back to Allsvenskan in 1949 and lasted in the league for two seasons before once again being relegated. IFK Malmö returned to Allsvenskan for the 1953–54 season, finishing fourth in the league that season. They finished second in the league in 1956–57, making them Swedish Championship silver medallists. In the following two seasons they finished fourth and third, before being relegated in 1960. IFK Malmö were promoted to Allsvenskan again in 1969 and finished fifth, but were relegated in the following season. They returned to Allsvenskan after one season and reached the play-offs, which had been introduced to determine the Swedish champions, in 1972–73. They were eliminated by IF Saab in the semi-finals. IFK Malmö won the regular season in the following season, but lost against SoIK Hellas in the semi-finals. Two years later they again reached the playoffs, but were once again defeated in the semi-finals. They were relegated in 1976–77. They returned to the top division in 1988–89 and 2003–04, but were immediately relegated both times. IFK Malmö were promoted from the second division in 2007, but after that season the senior team merged with Malmö HP to form a new club named HK Malmö. IFK Malmö has since started a new senior team which in 2018–19 plays in Division 4, the sixth level.

Handbollsligan(literally, "The Handball league") is the highest league in the league system of Swedish handball, and comprises the top 14 Swedish handball teams. The first season began in 1931–32. The season ends with a playoff.

Idrottsföreningen Kamraterna Kristianstad, or IFK Kristianstad, is a Swedish handball club based in Kristianstad. They play in Handbollsligan, the top level of Swedish men's handball. The club was founded in 1899 as a multi-sport club. The handball team made its debut in 1925 and has been the only section of the club since 2000. The club plays its home matches at Kristianstad Arena.

Allsvenskan is the Swedish second division in men's team handball. Earlier, the name was used by the top division. The league is organized by the Swedish Handball Federation.

SoIK Hellas is a sports club in Stockholm, Sweden, established on 14 May 1899 as Pastorns gossar by Katarina Parish confirmation priest Ernst Klefbeck, before changing name to SoIK Hellas in 1912, also on the initiative of Ernst Klefbeck. Nowadays running bowling, track and field athletics, handball, swimming, orienteering, tennis, and water polo, the club earlier also ran soccer, table tennis, fencing, gymnastics, cross-country skiing, diving, ski orienteering, and squash. Västra Frölunda IF Handball is Västra Frölunda IF's handball section, founded in 1930, the same year the main association was formed. The men's handball section has been successful, with 18 seasons in Elitserien.

IK Heim were a Swedish handball club from Gothenburg, founded in 1923. They have been Swedish champions 7 times. They won the title in 1950, 1955, 1959, 1960 and 1962. They were relegated from the top level in 1965 and did not return until 1974. In 1980, Heim reached the semifinals of the Cup Winners' Cup, where they lost to Spanish club CB Calpisa. They won two more Swedish titles in 1982 and 1983, but were relegated again in 1984. In 2005, the club merged with Mölndal HF to form IK Heim Mölndal and later Mölndal/Heim. Heim Mölndal briefly played in the top division from 2005 to 2007. In 2009, Mölndal HF was re-founded as a separate club and Heim ceased to exist.

The 1968–69 Allsvenskan was the 35th season of the top division of Swedish handball. 10 teams competed in the league. HK Drott won the regular season, but SoIK Hellas won the playoffs and claimed their third Swedish title. UoIF Matteuspojkarna and Vikingarnas IF were relegated.

The 1969–70 Allsvenskan was the 36th season of the top division of Swedish handball. 10 teams competed in the league. HK Drott won the regular season, but SoIK Hellas won the playoffs and claimed their fourth Swedish title. UoIF Matteuspojkarna and Vikingarnas IF were relegated.

The 1971–72 Allsvenskan was the 38th season of the top division of Swedish handball. 10 teams competed in the league. SoIK Hellas won the regular season and also won the playoffs to claim their sixth Swedish title. Vikingarnas IF and Ystads IF were relegated.

The 1978–79 Allsvenskan was the 45th season of the top division of Swedish handball. 12 teams competed in the league. IK Heim won the regular season, but HK Drott won the playoffs and claimed their third Swedish title. HF Olympia and Kiruna AIF were relegated.

The 1980–81 Allsvenskan was the 47th season of the top division of Swedish handball. 12 teams competed in the league. Ystads IF won the regular season, but Vikingarnas IF won the playoffs and claimed their third Swedish title. SoIK Hellas, Visby IF Gute and IFK Kristianstad were relegated.

The 1989–90 Allsvenskan was the 56th season of the top division of Swedish handball. 12 teams competed in the league. Redbergslids IK won the regular season but HK Drott won the playoffs and claimed their sixth Swedish title. Vikingarnas IF, Katrineholms AIK and HK Cliff were relegated.

IFK Ystad HK is a Swedish handball club based in Ystad, founded in 1927.

Irsta HF were a Swedish handball club based in Västerås. The club was founded in 1965. They were promoted to the top division, at the time known as Elitserien, in 1989. In their debut season in the top-flight, they finished fourth and qualified for the playoffs. They were eliminated in the semifinals by HK Drott. In the following season, they finished second in the league and defeated Ystads IF in the semifinals. They lost the final series against HK Drott. They participated in the EHF Cup Winners' Cup in 1991–92, but were eliminated by RK Crvena zvezda in the round of 16. They continued to play in Elitserien until they were relegated in 1996, but never again reached the playoffs.

Önnereds HK is a handball club based in Gothenburg, Sweden. Around 60 teams are organized in the club.
