Makarand Narwekar (born 20 September 1978) is an Indian politician from Mumbai and belongs to Bharatiya Janata Party. Makarand is a municipal councillor for ward 227 [2] [3] in Mumbai,Maharashtra. [4] [5] [6] Makarand is a second-term Municipal Councillor for Colaba. Makarand has been elected twice to hold the position of Municipal Councillor for Colaba. [7] Makarand is also a member of the My Dream Colaba NGO. [8]
Makarand Narwekar was born on 20 September 1978, [9] in Colaba,Mumbai to Suresh Narwekar,a Municipal Councillor from the Colaba area. Makarand's brother,Rahul Narwekar,is also a politician being the sitting MLA from the Colaba (Vidhan Sabha constituency) on a Bhartiya Janata Party ticket and also currently serves as the Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. [10] His sister-in-law Harshita Narwekar is also a Municipal Councillor from on a Bhartiya Janata Party ticket from the Cuffe Parade area. [11]
Makarand Narwekar holds a law degree from Government Law College and a bachelor's degree in commerce from Sydenham College. [12]
Makarand is also a lawyer in the Bombay High Court. [13] [14]
Makarand Nawekar made his first foray into politics in 2012 when he was elected as a municipal councillor as an independent candidate. [15] [16]
In 2017,Makarand joined Bharatiya Janata Party [17] and got elected as municipal councillor for the second time from Colaba. [18]
