The Philippines competed at the 29th Southeast Asian Games which took place in Malaysia from 19 to 30 August 2017. The Philippines contingent was composed of 497 athletes, 163 sporting officials and 70 administrative and medical staff who competed in 37 out of the 38 sports. The Philippines finished the 29th SEA Games in 6th place with a medal haul of 23 Golds, 33 Silvers and 64 Bronze which is the country's worst finish in 18 years. The next edition of the Southeast Asian Games was hosted by the Philippines in 2019.

The 2015 Malaysia Cup group stage was played from 11 September to 8 November 2015. A total of 16 teams competed in the group stage to decide the 8 places in the knockout phase of the 2015 Malaysia Cup. The teams were drawn into fourth groups of four, and played each other home-and-away in a round-robin format.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2018 AFC U-16 Championship</span> International football competition

The 2018 AFC U-16 Championship was the 18th edition of the AFC U-16 Championship, the biennial international youth football championship organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for the men's under-16 national teams of Asia. It took place in Malaysia, which was appointed as hosts by the AFC on 25 July 2017, between 20 September and 7 October 2018. A total of 16 teams played in the tournament.

The men's football tournament at the 2017 SEA Games was held from 14 to 29 August in Malaysia in August 2017. In this tournament, all 11 Southeast Asian teams played in the men's competition. In addition to the host city of Kuala Lumpur, matches were also played in Shah Alam and Selayang. Associations affiliated with FIFA might send teams to participate in the tournament. Men's teams were restricted to under-22 players.

The 2018 Malaysia Cup group stage featured 16 teams and will start on 4 August and concludes on 16 September 2018. A total of 16 teams will compete in the group stage to decide the 8 places in the knockout stage of the 2018 Malaysia Cup.

The 2021 Malaysia Cup group stage began on 25 September and ended on 10 November 2021. A total of 16 teams competed in the group stage to decide the 8 places in the knockout stage of the 2021 Malaysia Cup.
