Southeast Asian Games appearances (overview)

Malaysia competed in the 2013 Southeast Asian Games held in Naypyidaw, the capital of Myanmar, as well as in two other main cities, Yangon and Mandalay. Malaysia was selected the host nation for the 2017 edition. [1] [2]

Naypyidaw, officially romanized Nay Pyi Taw, is the capital and third-largest city of Myanmar. The city is located at the centre of the Naypyidaw Union Territory. It is unusual among Myanmar's cities, as it is an entirely planned city outside of any state or region. The 2013 Southeast Asian Games, officially known as the 27th Southeast Asian Games, or the 27th SEA Games, and commonly known as Naypyitaw 2013, was a Southeast Asian multi-sport event took place in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar from 11 to 22 December 2013, Around 4730 athletes from 11 participating nations competed at the games, which featured 460 events in 34 sports. The games were held from 11 to 22 December 2013.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Football at the 2011 SEA Games</span> International football competition

The association football tournament at the 2011 Southeast Asian Games took place from 3 to 21 November 2011. This edition of the tournament was only for the men's competition. No women's competition was held as the host nation Indonesia did not have enough stadiums to host two categories of football at the same time, but other reasons were put into consideration, such as the poor performance of the Indonesian women's national team. It was played among U-23 national teams. All matches took place in Jakarta. This was the first time that all Southeast Asian nations participated in the football tournament at a SEA Games.

The 27th association football tournament at the 2013 Southeast Asian Games took place in Myanmar between 7–21 December. It was played among U-23 national teams, while the women's tournament had no age limit.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2016 AFF Championship</span> International football competition

The 2016 AFF Championship, sponsored by Suzuki and officially known as the AFF Suzuki Cup 2016, was the 11th edition of the AFF Championship, the football championship of nations affiliated to the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF). The whole tournament ran from 19 November to 17 December 2016. After the recognition by FIFA as a "category A" tournament, the 2016 edition of the tournament would grant international ranking points for each match.

The 2014 AFC U-16 Championship qualification was the qualification round for the 2014 AFC U-16 Championship, which took place in Thailand. The draw for the qualifiers was held on 26 April 2013 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The 2013 AFF U-16 Youth Championship is the 9th edition of the AFF U-16 Youth Championship, organised by the ASEAN Football Federation for the men's under-16 national teams of Southeast Asia. It will be hosted by Myanmar. It will be played between 20 August to 2 September 2013. A total of 10 teams will play in the tournament.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Wunna Theikdi Stadium</span> Myanmar sporting venue

Wunna Theikdi Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Naypyidaw, Myanmar. It can seat 30,000 spectators. The stadium hosted the 2013 Southeast Asian Games and 2014 ASEAN Para Games opening and closing ceremonies. In addition, it hosted the events of 2015 National Sports Festival and 2018 ASEAN University Games. Currently, it is hosting state and region sports competitions. There are offices of Myanmar Olympic Committee and Department of Youth Affairs of Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs.

Basketball contests at the 2013 Southeast Asian Games were held from 8 December to 16 December 2013. This edition of the tournament featured both men's and women's tournaments. All matches took place at Zayyar Thiri Indoor Stadium in Naypyidaw.

The 2015 AFC Champions League qualifying play-off was played from 4 to 17 February 2015. A total of 25 teams competed in the qualifying play-off to decide eight of the 32 places in the group stage of the 2015 AFC Champions League.

The 2016 AFC Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament was the 4th edition of the AFC Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament, the quadrennial international football competition organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) to determine which women's national teams from Asia qualify for the Olympic football tournament.

The second round of AFC matches for 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification was played from 24 May 2015 to 29 March 2016.

The 2016 AFF Women's Championship was the ninth edition of the AFF Women's Championship, an international women's football tournament organised by the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF). The tournament was held in Mandalay, Myanmar between 26 July to 4 August 2016.

The 2016 Mekong Club Championship is the 3rd season of the Mekong Club Championship. The championship is sponsored by Toyota and will be played between October 2016 and January 2017 featuring teams from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.

The 2020 AFC Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament was the 5th edition of the AFC Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament, the quadrennial international football competition organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) to determine which women's national teams from Asia qualify for the Olympic football tournament.

The 2019 AFC U-16 Women's Championship qualification is a women's under-16 football competition which decides the participating teams of the 2019 AFC U-16 Women's Championship.

The 2019 AFC U-19 Women's Championship qualification is a women's under-19 football competition which decides the participating teams of the 2019 AFC U-19 Women's Championship.

Group A was one of the two groups of the 2018 AFF Championship. It consisted of Vietnam, Malaysia, Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos. The matches were played from 8 to 24 November 2018.

The men's football tournament at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games was held from November 25 to December 10, 2019 in the Philippines. All eleven Southeast Asian nations participated in the men's tournament. Matches were played in Manila, Biñan and Imus. Men's teams were restricted to under-22 players.

The women's football tournament at the 2023 Southeast Asian Games was held from 3–15 May 2023 in Cambodia. Eight Southeast Asian nations participated in the women's tournament. All matches are played in Phnom Penh. There is no age limit for this tournament. Indonesia withdrew from the competition after the draw. Timor-Leste did not take part in the competition.
